TOY HUNTER Returns April 10th. SEASON TWO STARTS WITH A BANG!
I am a big fan of the toy hunter show and i really wanted to hate it but Jordon is infectious and is really one of us. he makes me want to watch (while the hosts of pickers make me turn it off). I have no problem with the prices he offers even if he thinks he can make more than double of his offer price it's an unrealized gain. It's not like he is scalping current figured from the toy aisle at the local store to get the rare figure and resell it a 400% on ebay keeping it out of a childs hands he is looking for the toys the grown ups want. I have had to sell a couple of really rare toys in the last few years and I made sure I made a healthy profit to let go a treasure. The seller is the one who ultimately has the power to take a deal or not.
and the season finale when he talked about his orginal SW figures that he thought were lost and his team window boxed brought a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat. he is one of us no denying it
All the presents were fantastic. Steve's "Fright Factory" was beautiful. That one brought back some old memories. What a display piece!
Right behind Jordon in the KISS episode was the mintest box of Mego KISS figures I have ever seen. I actually rewound it and paused it. Also, THANK YOU for showing the new CTVT KISS retro figures. That might be my favorite episode thus far.
I have to say- I mentioned the lovely Mego Museum and Jordan absolutely lit up, he was excited to say the least! He's a good dude, poor guy got swarmed after that. Now I wish I would have set up at the show and let him pick my collection

So I went back for day 2 of 'toy hunting' (see what I did there?) at the local Comic and Toy convention--- and look what the cat dragged in! Was good to get to chat briefly and a quick picture
With my least favorite episode out of the way, Toy Hunter season two is looking great.
Steve is the perfect 'Frank' to your 'Mike'! I liked him right away. While I enjoyed your little competition, I have serious concerns about the wager. 7 hour drive? First the seatbelts, and now THIS? You're so taken chances on the road.
Julia seems to have an honest interest/enjoyment in the show. If she is half as sweet, as she appears already, she is going to win a lot of hearts.
Misfit toys: Lawn Darts, Sonic Blaster? Really Jordan? Couldn't find a "Wham-O Powermaster crossbow"?
While 'stuff-makers' and 'cheesey-bake ovens' could provide a nasty blister, what about the old lead casting kits? 'Here son, let dad show you how to cook lead and pour molten metal.'
I pretty much know how this goes down. They record you doing your thing and then they go the the editing bay and make a "narrative". I mean, you help it along of course, but they sweeten it. But boy, someday I'd love to meet Gene.

You didnt think I would let a day go without checking in.. did you? LOL Thanks so much for the comments, I have read them all.
With regards to Gene and staging... I can say a few things.
1. Gene really did reach out to us, and he did call me. Some artistic license may have been re-created for TV.
2. I understand people feel the show may have seemed a bit "too polished" and I hear you.... the Network wanted to reach a broader range of the viewing audience. Sometimes, this means "jazzing up a few scenes" or "dumbing down" others.
However, I am still in control when the deals go down and try to make them as real as possible. Vicky really did have the KISS Van, along with some Megos and other stuff. ( She even had a rare KISS mobile from Australia). I overpaid on the Van big time... but I really wanted to have it.
Gene is pretty much the way you would think him to be.. business like and "matter of fact." I did get some cash from him as well.. in addition to the record.
The viewmaster did go the the old man at the flea market, when I found out that Gene had it... it was sold for $75.
I am trying to keep the show entertaining and fun. It may become less documentary and lean more towards documentary/information. It's the Networks call.
I can promise you this.. we have TONS OF MEGO THIS SEASON. In fact, producers asked me "Can we do less Mego?" ... and I said.. " Of course not!"
Thanks for your comments and suggestions, I read them all and I remain in all of your debt for watching the show!
You guys don't know how much it pains me to have been a member here over a decade and I live mere minutes from a major collection - a collection that I played with as a kid - but it got boxed up, put in an attic, never to be seen again.
Yup, my cousins.
They had damn near every Mego that I can remember...every Star Wars toy...shogun warriors...godzilla....
Their mom saves everything, box it up and away it goes. Pretty sure the attic of the garage is full too.
Kicker is, they refuse to let me and my son get in there and dig this stuff out, even if it's just for a photo shoot, clean-up and re-packing.
To think how much of that mego-fungus is all over those clothes from poor storage just kills me.
I think my aunt might have an odd fear of getting the stuff out. About 15 years ago..she was doing attic-stuff and fell off the ladder. Messed her elbow up pretty good and I don't believe they ever went back up. Course, that translates to probably not letting anyone else up there either, hence the wordless refusal to let us go thru the old toys.
Other side of the coin could be they got rid of it all and just don't want to tell me...who knows.
Now THAT could be an episode. A good old fashioned find.

My favorite part to your show has always been about the history you give to every toy showcased. THAT is the entertainment value I have for this show. If it were just a bunch of guys haggling over prices and giggling every time they see a vintage item, I would fall asleep. I like my brain to be nurtured, not numbed. And story lines like the "personal contest" for private goodies actually comes off as a bit arrogant. Wouldn't we all like to have $5,000.00 in disposable income not tied to savings, retirement, or our kids? I think if you can keep it focused on the art of the hobby and not the superficial waving of your wallet or rubbing shoulders with celebs like Gene Simmons who are desperate for attention, the show will be far more enjoyable and far more engaging. This is the first show I've seen that tries to give a thoughtful profile to these collectibles. And if the producers can avoid trying to inject witless 'plot points', I think the show can endure. Just my two cents.
Oh, and about the seatbelt issue... I am wearing it! LOL Since we are all mic'd up.. the microphone sits on my chest. The seatbelt runs right across the top of my chest, so we usually slide the belt behind us, or off to the side.
Trust me, safety is always our number one priority on the road, and for the Network!
