I didn't know they existed until a few years ago when Hasbro Pulse sent me a marketing email hyping that they were having a sale. I checked it out and decided to buy something. So I then clicked on the 'Outlet' section of their store just in case there might be anything else I might want. And I saw these! And they were indeed $15....

From my personal perspective, the only real 'downside' aspect of this set is that there were never any other GI Joes made in this Mego style. (I would've been thrilled to buy a Destro, to name just one.)

(All of the above suggests that they likely didn't sell well, unfortunately.)
I would love to have more GIJoe in the Mego format. A full set like the 90s 12 inch series wouldhave been amazing. Opens up for customs.

I need to find my box of customs I made over 25 years ago. I loved this hobby so much in the past.

Surprised you only bought one at $15, I would have picked up min 6. Just in bodies and gear, great deal.

    Found these yesterday night !

Came across a 1 year old local sales add for one of these G.I. Joe set and contacted the seller to see if this was still available. He replied he still had a few sets left ! So I negotiated with him and bought the remaining 3 sets he had. He told me these where not available in Canada and that he had to order 1 caisse of them to get them. Plus the seller was 5 minutes from me ! a no brainer...

I read on the forum that these were on liquidation at $15 a set so I would assume he bought these back then. I am happy since did not have them and being in Canada makes my chances of getting them even less likely.

So these are the (little poeple) in the Mego line ups. Lots of bad reviews on the forum on theses but man do they have nice accesories.

When I think about it, you guys in the States are lucky to get stuff like this for $15. Just Wow...

ZLC was/is having a flash sale on modern Mego figures: BOGO. Though their remaining inventory is a little thin.

While I never watched Star Trek after the pilot (1987?) for Next Generation, I did like the original Shatner/Nimoy show and their movies. Nonetheless, I just bought 2 Topps X Mego Star Trek figures, spurred by this sale: Borg Queen and Quark.

I know 'of' the Borg and thought the 'more deluxe' Topps version of the Borg Queen (with digital circuitry printed on her black outfit) looked cool. And the more deluxe Topps version of Quark looked cool as well, despite my only knowledge of that name/character being one night in Las Vegas in the late 1990s, when I was there with a group of guy friends to party the night away at various casino nightclubs. But first, everyone else (other than me) wanted to gamble. So I 'killed' those hours by walking through various exhibit halls at various casinos, including a Star Trek exhibit at, if memory serves, the International. That exhibit, which had a lot of original costumes and props in glass cases, was cool enough to pass some time enjoyably. It ended at a replica of 'Quark's Bar,' which the (human) bartender explained to me was featured in one of the sequel TV shows. He pointed me to a picture of Quark for reference. Now,. nearly 30 years later, I happily bought the Mego figure at an excellent sale price. That said, after the BOGO discount, I am 99% sure this Quark figure cost me less today than one novelty, named cocktail at Quark's Bar in LV circa 1998.

Quite unique! Is there a story attached to it? Was it an in-house sort of item?

When these figures were released they all cost the same, maybe yes, more Batman-Robin and Superman figures were produced than Shazam and Green Arrow or even Flash for that matter, but the cost for each figure was the same in store.

If you were lucky enough to get to Walmart the first day they were stocked, I’m guessing you probably would’ve seen more selection of Batman, Robin and Superman on the pegs, than say Aquaman or Shazam.

I remember when the 50th anniversary WGSH were released, I searched my local Walmarts and couldn’t find them, either in the toy section or electronic section, I really wanted a Shazam. I couldn’t understand why my local Walmarts didn’t have any?

They sold fast on line, but each figure to my memory cost the same, unfortunately for me, I wasn’t able to pick up a Shazam, I think what was left were a few Superman and Robin’s, I’m guessing RC Batman was the first to sell out.

It’s because of the greedy sellers on ebay some probably warehouse workers, grabbing what they could and sell them on ebay for double to triple the price, knowing online websites were selling out fast. Also store shoppers who sleep out in the parking lots in their cars, hit the stores first thing and grab bunches of these figures and then maybe wait a month or until the websites and stores are sold out of them, and sell on ebay.

Green Arrow came out later just like he did back in the day, I really don’t even know if he was ever available in stores?
selling out fast on website stores, and selling on ebay for absolutely ridiculous prices, the sellers don’t care, there hoping you want it bad enough to buy it at triple or even 4 times the price, just like scalping a ticket to a game or concert.
I guess that I`m lucky to have missed those hassles. Being in Canada, they would have been X10 so I guess I would have been very frustrated.

    Well, I`m frustrated still...lol

I still would love to know the production run on each figures. That would be very interesting.

Was there any Production numbers ever announced on these? Were they all the same accross the board ?

    Thanks,

Yeah, I bought a few small collection when avaible to make a base. Batman is a must. Was lucky to find most local and online at decent prices. Its just the usual suspect that are harder to find. I dont understand why these demand so much money, do they not have the same production quantity ?

I havent read up on everything yet as to understand was so scarce, someone has to know ?

Once I find Dr. Fate, i`ll feel better knowing I`m up to date on the super hero side of things. I`m catching up on the others lines also...

There is a lot of different Mego figures out there ! Big collection.
