Normally when I've doubted the casting of new doctors or companions, I've warmed to them after an episode or two. I got Karen Gillan's Amy Pond immediately, first scene. However, Jenna Louise Coleman just isn't working for me - she's more wooden than Pinocchio. And because Matt Smith is now bouncing off a smirking plank, it makes him seem stiff in turn. He certainly doesn't seem to be having as much fun as he did last season. Add to that the late Series 7 return of studio floors and wobbly walls, and I fear Doctor Who has taken a huge leap backwards. It may (may) still be amusing to seven year olds, but it's no longer retaining the production values to keep me amused as an adult. My 12y/o has called most of the last seven episodes "stupid". They're losing a fan there.

The new Cybermen are a huge step backwards, design-wise.* Trying to morph them into Iron Man clones is a cheap trick and the end result is a mish-mash of elements that no longer retain the pure art-deco inspired theme of their last iteration. Also their faces look too round, which makes them look like Cyber-Iron-Babies. I guess the BBC want to sell more toys.

Less redesigning and more concentration on scripts/acting/action please.

*Disclaimer: I own an "art-deco" Cyberman head.

    >does anyone else think the new-new Cybermen are ripping off the Borg

Yes; and that was the big heartbreak for me. I HATE how everything is slowly becoming the same. The instant upgrades, the collective, the half-convert with Borg eyepiece, wanting to make the Doctor the new Borg queen.... sigh. Even the kids being converted felt cribbed from a Trek episode. (With the drawer of babies.... I forget which one that was....)

Overall I thought it was kinda blah. WAY too many lucky coincidences for me. So.... we just HAPPEN to have an anti-Borg.... er Cyber raygun! How lucky! Even LUCKIER that we have the Emperor, right here! AND he knows the secret password! Yay!

    >I like the fact that cybermen can now move fast.

One of them, anyhoo. That kinda bothered me too; if they can all instantly upgrade, shouldn't they ALL have been super fast?

Too pat an ending, annoying kids...seriously- the Doctor ACTUALLY went along with taking them for a ride? Look at all the people who've begged to go along with him-and he always says no...now we're giving in to companions? Meh!
I like the fact that cybermen can now move fast. And the little cybermites are a big improvement on cybermats. All in all though, this episode just seemed excessive and not up to the previous Neil Gaiman effort. At least Warwick Davis was a cool guest-star.

One episode left, and apparently it's been leaked all over the net so don't google the show!!

I like the new Cyberman look (especially the face is very old school), but not their new superpowers. Now they're superfast, their heads come off, their hands can run around. Hmmm...Pretty soon, as Clara feared, they'll be flying around like Iron Man. The walking hand reminded me of Mars Attacks.
The story bounced back and forth between serious and comedy, and didn't really get the right tone. The kids were pretty annoying, true.
Now, these people built all kinds of stuff to fight off Cybermen (guns, gauntlets), but what they really needed...was a small piece of gold foil?
Because that neutralized the Cyberpart like you wouldn't believe. Why not use that all the time? Why didn't the Doctor whip up a "gold spraying device" or something like it?
    .
it was called the Glitter Gun - the 4th doctor references it in Revenge of the Cybermen - the thing with the classic cybermen is that every time they appeared not only did they look different but their weaknessed changed. The gold weakness stayed with them till the end of the classic show but these cybermen aren't classic series Cybermen (unless I've forgotten a story that merged the Alt earth cybus inc cybermen with the originals

Of course everybody will admit the Borg ripped off the Cybermen, but does anyone else think the new-new Cybermen are ripping off the Borg ?

Next, they're stuck on this planet, attacked by thousands of Cybermen, and then suddenly it's "I'm the Emperor, let's teleport to my space ship and I'll detonate this bomb with a simple phrase"?

When you have all that (gold foil, bombs, teleport, spaceships), what was all the running around about? Filling 50 minutes of screen time?
And again, it's all about the mysterious Clara. Snore....

To me, it was a very messy story that didn't make much sense. A shame, because I love The Cybermen, but I haven't seen that many episodes that do them justice.

I liked it Neil Gaimen's writing was good. I still miss classic series cybermen. The whole human references make these the evolution of the alt erath cybus men - classic who cybermen could adapt any humanoid. overall not bad

I just zoned in on how much like Robin Williams Matt is when he's bouncing around chewing up the scenery.

    Decent episode tonight.

The revamped Cybermen design is great. Makes them less clunky and more agile, but still just as menacing.

The kids were annoying, especially the girl. But I guess she was meant to be.

Looking forward to the enigma of Clara finally being explained.

I WOULD SSSOOOOOO WATCH T'HELL OUT OF THAT!!!! I wanna see Strax finally get to attack the moon.

    >Didn't love the conclusion

Oh, I did. A villain who got to stay evil right to the end, and the whole "well.... maybe I'll *SQUISH* Never mind." bit.

There would be a catchie phase said over and over and then River Song would save them
