My first thought was that John Hurt was the final Doctor, the last one before he die dies.

That was my thought. In the pics that have been leaked we see him wearing the coat of Eccleston's Doctor. If he came before #9 where did he get the coat? It's not fool-proof logic but every new Doctor wears new clothes the previous one didn't wear.

They've already got three; Jenny, Donna still technically has the Doctor in her brain, and the weird pseudo-doctor from the other dimension.

I seriously doubt Smith is leaving and if he was they would pick another young Doctor to replace him.

It took a while for Smith to settle into the role (he was very manic at first), but now I really enjoy his portrayal.
I do not want to see him go, unless John Hurt would actually be next in line. That would be too much to resist...

I think Smith is the closest Doctor to the original series we've had, he borrows from earlier Doctors sure but most Doctors after Pertwee did that.
