I've been working in Clarksville TN the past couple of weeks...checking TRU daily. Today I walked in and they had all the figures hanging on the peg! What an awesome site...they were all hanging straight too!

I picked up one of each, leaving a full set on the peg...if any of you guys live close by I wanted to let you know they've made it to town!

Even though I had a strong working relationship with companies like Hasbro, Toy Biz, and Mezco, and they trusted me implicitly when it came to anything superhero or Star Wars related, NONE of them, even though they admired my passion for them, never responded to the idea of doing a mego-like, 8 inch figure line with roto heads and cloth costumes. Even Toy Biz, who pretty much is (was) Marvel, who could do ANYTHING they wanted with ANY of the characters in their library, would simply not go down that road with me, and I knew those guys pretty well, and had done all kinds of work with them during my tenure there back in the day, and mind you, a lot of the guys I was working with, were our age and grew up with the same toys we did. They always came back with; "Sandy, I know you love these things and it'd be awesome, but it would be strictly a nostalgic collector thing, and it's just not that big a chunk of the demographic to move forward with, and they'd be super expensive in the limited quantities we'd have to do to hit that specific a slice of the demographic..."

I agree with you about how great it is to see these figures at TRU, which I got to see earlier today. You mention you worked a lot with ToyBiz, who did not want to do a Mego type figure. Why did they do the Famous Covers Series? Looking at and buying these terrific figures today, makes me realize more than ever how badly done Famous Covers were.

Been a while since I've been in (busy with work - how that goes) but wanted to report I picked up a lex and a sinestro at Palm Beach Gardens, FL Thursday (left one supes on the peg) and drove down to North Miami Beach (after the Plantation, FL store turned out to not get their shipment - late truck allegedly coming in today) to get a Supes and Green Lantern.

N Miami Beach had two cases on the pegs, so I left six figs behind.

If anyone is having trouble locating them they're pegged on the "collector toys" aisle, usually past or right next to the dvd sections, with the mcfarlane and ghost busters/wolfman and other DCU stuff.

Only every other TRU in my area is receiving shipment (IE is even ordered or slated for delivery), and I managed to get to both of these the day they arrived. Employees can find them in the TRU system for you by looking up item code 373364. That will show stock in other locations as well but they have to know the location first and then go in to check stock directly... there's no "find all stores that have X" function.
My good fortune that one of the clerks was nice and checked for me.

        My review:
I didn't plan to drop $85 on them all at once... but I did. I'm glad.
I swapped everything to vintage body (put Sinestro on a human torch torso and it's close enough for retro work) I changed out supes and GL's boots for vintage, and I'm sure I'll place an order for purple repro boots soon with Doc. I wasn't even going to get superman as I'm a Batman guy, but he won me over and I have to say after the parts swap he's pretty freaking sweet. I had a fist with GL power ring already cast in white and green plastic so I used vintage hands for him - which I like better.

$20 buck retro head and suits is how I'm looking at them. Yeah, the QC issues are there and the bodies are kinda wonky but I understand their intention and they're not as bad as some. I think they're definitely playable out of the package for kids.

There he was, holding a wrestling figure in one hand and a Retro Green Lantern in the other.

The wrestler was hanging waist level in his left hand and the Green Lantern was in admiration status in his right. Until that point I had no idea they had made it to our local TRU. I just stood there and watched his face as he stared, eyes all glazed over jaw slightly lowered. It took less than 20 seconds for him to drop the wrestler on the floor and come running to find me.

Of course the answer was yes. Hayden left TRU with a Green Lantern for himself and Superman for his friend. I am not sure if watching my son toss aside what was his favorite toy line for a Mego brought me the most joy. Him wanting to buy a Mego for his friend so they could play together might rank right up there.

Thanks Paul and everyone at Mattel for nearly making me cry.
This is the entire point for me! I want my son to experience all of that which is MEGO! I want to eventually see my son and his friends rolling a new Mattel Batmobile down the driveway with his Batman and (hopefully bare legs Robin) Retro Action Heroes in tow!! So excited!!!

Don't think any vechicles will ever be done for this line. But there are many good deals on older B-mobiles on the 'bay.

I was at 2 by me today; Sanford and Altamonte. No Superman at Sanford but there was one in Altamonte. That looked horrible! Besides some schmuck creasing the card which didn't have to be done since he was very knock-kneed and joints looked out of whack. Alas I did not buy it. The search continues for the son of Jor-El...

Hayden slept with his Green Lantern last night. Today I had to install a shelf by his bed so Green Lantern and Green Arrow had a place to sit after dark.

He is having fun though. The EMCE Trek bridge and figures got involved in a dispute with the Retro heroes an hour or two ago. I'm not sure who won, but there are Trek figures scattered around my house like an A-Bomb went off. My money is on the heroes.

I went to TRU yesterday with my yougest son (5 years) and he got to pick out one of the new retro characters (I already have a full set). He chose Green Lantern. He's played with it for hours on end with his other "Megos."

                              GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS.
First, the Good News, Retro figures have arrived in NYC (The Bronx) yes!
Now, the Bad News, as seems to be the trend, They only had 2 figures of each.

I purchased one complete set, and then some guy saw them in my basket and asked me where did you get them, I told him there was only 3 left, (I was going to get an extra sinestro to display at work) He went there, looked at them, and picked up 2 figures, then he decided to get all 3, I told him do u want the 4th figure? he said oh yes, I told him, I had an extra one, He took it, we talked for a little about how he had the figures as a child etc. then we went about our way.

for some reason some toys r us stores are charging 22.95 for the figures. I nicely asked customer service, that the figures, are listed as 19.99 on the toys r us web site and was told that the price is always different there. Oh well, just out of curiousity I would like to know if any of you have paid over 19.99 at toys r us.
