Am I the only one who didn't care for the title sequence either? I mean, as much as people hated on "ENTERPRISE"'s opening credits, they were, IMHO, light years ahead of this one. The music, while it attempts to hook people in with Alexander Courage's four familiar notes, seems uninspired and boring. The images---whoop-tee-doo; fancy computer-generated animatics and schematics of the ship, a phaser, a spacesuit, a communicator and big, weird flowery thing? Nope, doesn't work for me. At all. Man, this show makes me REALLY glad that THE ORVILLE is on FOX and FREE!

Ok, I know I'm so old I yell at modern Trek fans to get off my lawn, but wow.....pee yuuu!
They can yell and scream this is Prime timeline all they want. This clearly was inspired more by JJTrek than anything else.
    Definitely not my cuppa Trek

Well I watched the pilot and the Klingons just bother me. They changed them so much they look like a new species. I am paying enough for my Sat/Internet so I am not going to pay more to watch a series that irks me. Mabey when it comes out on DVD I will give it try, but not right now.

This guy was better than the Alias Brit Abrams chose, but nonetheless, it ****es me off the way Lenard's character traits are discarded. The man's voice sold everything.

    I'll be first.

That was...not good. They're using pre-TOS concept to exploit ideas people already know, but everything else is highly modern. The best reference I've seen is "Discovery is as if Abrams rebooted TNG".

And production standards have dropped off a cliff. That was some serious SyFy Channel dialogue.

Totally agree. And the writing is SO uptight. Very little felt natural among the characters. Except for Saru, he was a positive exception.

Also not a fan of the new Klingons. It's like a bit of prosthetic make up overkill. Technology is also WAY too advanced for a period that is supposed to be taking place before Kirk. I like the design of the Shenjou, so, whether i see it or not (which is leaning forwards not), I will be sorry to see it go and replaced by the much bulkier and clunkier (IMHO) looking Discovery.

Three quarters of the way through and so far kind of "meh." Doesn't feel like Roddenberry or Abrams TREK, either one. Feels, so far, like STINO...

    PS: Lotsa damn commercials.

It's just on regular old TV here in Canada, so I can't imagine it won't be pirated in a Game of Thronesy way soon.

CBS Access is only $6 a month, so if I really like it, I'm in...

'Star Trek Discovery' is nearly here, and it begs comparisons to another recent sci-fi revelation: Syfy's 'Battlestar Galactica' reboot.

It's not so much the money that bothers me for signing up for CBS All Access, it's that the service currently has very little else that interests me. I don't watch any of the CBS shows, and I don't need to watch classic reruns that I can already find via Netflix (if I even cared to watch them, which I don't).

But one thing that does have some appeal is being able to watch some CBS NFL games that aren't aired on my local CBS channel.
It's set on my DVR...I can't wait to watch it. But like you, it really has to be good, for the only CBS show I watch is Big Bang Theory, and that's free. Other CBS NFL games ars a good idea, never thought of that, Thanks.

The Orville made me have no inspiration to even watch the new Trek series.

Kudos to Fox for getting it out there a few weeks ahead of Trek
