It was brutal. And it also should have happened LAST year! Honestly, what was the point of the Gov's assault last year falling apart? This whole season has been entertaining at times I guess, but really, we had 5 episodes of fighting the flu, 2 of the Governer finding his mojo again, and then we go right back to where we were at the end of last season. Except with a tank.

Gut punch. Same feeling for me when Andrea died. Brutal episode of talking dead as well. That was not therapeutic at all!! The group had an emergency exit strategy, so after the farm incident, they must have a local meetup point??
Anyone know what that thing was that Tyrese was pointing out to Rick and Daryl in the lower level? Looked like a crucified rat?

Totally agree about the Governor aspect. Should have done this last season.

Yeah, it was a flayed open rate nailed to a board. Probably one of those freaky girls doing that stuff.

I thought that at first as well but I don't see it being the girls, now. I thought it might be an inside man with the Gov, that was leading the walkers to a point in the fence to weaken it, but that wasn't the case. I wonder now if it might be a voodoo practitioner? I know that sounds a little odd but my thinking is it may be a nod to the Romero movies when in Dawn of the Dead "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.". Peter/ Ken Foree mentioned it was Voodoo lore (if I remember right). Yeah, seems like a stretch after I type it out. At any rate, waste of a good rat that could be used for food.

            Here was the quote:
Peter: Something my granddad used to tell us. You know Macumba? Vodou. My granddad was a priest in Trinidad. He used to tell us, "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the Earth."

              Great mid season finale.

Damn, Rick was about to get snuffed by the Governor until Michonne got him from behind. Then that new girlfriend seemed to shoot him...but I think the Governor is still alive since you never see the kill shot on screen.

Nah, I take it back, I think the Governor is toast, lol.

P.S. One little minor gripe...that scene where Daryl shields himself from bullets behind a Walker...that was a bit fantastical...those big caliber-high velocity bullets go through bodies/flesh like butter...especially that close of a range.

I thought that Bob guy was the Gov's inside man, but I guess not. Still he's up to something, hiding his little box in the hallways.
Again, Daryl didn't react to the Carol news too badly, a little pacing and then off to find Tyrese arm in arm with Rick.
The death of Hershel was pointless, why choose him over Michonne?
Where is baby Judy? I think Beth has her somewhere safe.

                Overall, a great episode!

An excellent episode that was like a punch to the gut. I am sad to see Hershel go. It seems like they kill off the most moral characters, first Dale and now Hershel. I think he chose to kill Hershel because he was the "anti" governor in my opinion. He knew that death would hurt the group more. I believe Judith to be alive an well in the arms of Bob (with Maggie and Sasha.) The seat was unbuckled, so someone had to take her out. He was wounded, hence the blood in the seat. It will be his redemption for letting everyone down so far. Great moment from the two girls. Lizzie looks like the female Carl. I can't wait to see where the show goes from here.

Beth left with Daryl and she didn't have Judith with her

Governor messed up...had it been me as the evil Governor, I would've killed Michonne the second I first laid eyes on her...then swap Hershel for half of the prison, problem solved, lol.

that's your only gripe - the body is way better protection than those empty filing cabinets he was hiding behind earelr were (especially since the body was a fat walker)

What about the fact the the tank's crew never fires a second round (Daryl's grenading of the tank gun barrell is actually pretty good - it's why tanks don't go to war without infantry

The more I think about this episode, the more bothered I am that they didn't just have this confrontation last season. What was the point of bringing back The Gov, showing he had some humanity, and then going right back to the way he was? If it was just to split up the group, they could have figured out another way to do that. I could have done without the two Gov centered episodes entirely. They didn't propel the story in any way, other than ultimately splitting up the main group.

There were many holes, but didn't want to point them all out because I don't wanna be super negative on this thread, lol.

What does "second round" mean? The tank fired several shells as it stormed the prison..

What really should've happened was that as soon as the Gov cranked back to decapitate the sweet old man, one of his own group should've put him down. Then they all could've lived happily ever after in the prison. The same thing should've happened at Woodbury.

But no no, the crazy mad dog psychopath has to ruin it for everybody.
