Paterno has now sought out a criminal attorney... Just watch. The proverbial sh*t is going to hit the fan. I bet we have yet to hear the worst of this...by a long shot.

This is, without doubt, going to be the largest scandal ever in sports by a wide margin. Don't discount the significance of this just cause it's related to the football program. When this is all over a few years from now, there will a smoldering crater where Penn State used to be. I don't usually follow news stories like this so closely, but there are some bombs still to be dropped, and they will be massive.

I just read a story where some former players and coaches are donating money for Sandusky's legal defense. I just threw up in my mouth a little.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

THAT is just unbelievable. This blind loyalty borders on a cult-like following, similar to Jonestown. How does anyone run to the defense of a person who has manipulated so many for the sole purpose of taking advantage of kids who came there seeking help? It's absolutely unspeakable! These supporters are like mindless sheep. They are without thought as they are a brain to produce them. And I agree with you. The revelations are going to freak people out. We've only skimmed the top so far. The Texas state police are now inquiring too...

Re: McQueary - I read speculation today that he might be protected under some of the whistleblower laws...which may be why he's being treated the way he is. If that's true, Penn State might not be able to get rid of him. No idea what legal exposure he'd still have. That would really bother me; I want him gone from PSU. Pay him to go away if it comes to that.

Also, I found that the VP who Paterno informed of the shower incident was over the campus police dept at the time. I wonder if Joe's lawyer will argue that he "did tell the police." Don't think that will work in the court of public opinion.

That whole bit with the prosecutor is crazy. Just, wow.

Lastly, it occurred to me that this situation would've been ripe for extortion for about a decade. The imagination runs wild with that.

On a lighter note (as I said, I'm a Penn State grad), my grad school Ohio State just got hit with Failure to Monitor by the NCAA. Suddenly discount tattoos, over-paid summer jobs & the selling of one's own trinkets seems downright quaint.

Anyone see that interview last night between Bob Costas and Sandusky? What a fraud! Sandusky is a complete liar. How can he sit there and suggest that countless events of showering with kids are 'misunderstandings' when it was brought to his attention how inappropriate it was from the start? If it were even possible to have such a lapse in judgement (which I can't reason in this instance) why would he continue after it's pointed out by a parent? Why? Because he was doing then as he is now - Thinking he can talk his way out of it because there are no witnesses...or so he thought. Just disgraceful!

I listen to the Score sports radio here at work every day and they just finished playing some of that interview. Made me want to ball bat the guy even that much more.

Same here. The very idea that he would go on national television to address this issue really speaks to how detached his perspective truly is. Clearly he is accustom to being in an environment where he has authority and control. A space where his views are not questioned and his opinions are honored whether they have merit or not. Through decades of priviledge and entitlements, he has no grounded view of accountability, as it applies to his actions. That's why he goes on television with a glum tone, acting as if he is a spoiled child being sent to his room unfairly. He can't reason his harm to children over his will to do with them as he wishes. That was abundantly clear and a textbook example of a pedophile. His attorney did him a great disservice by allowing him to talk. Every specialist in the country is going to look at what he said and categorize him a pedophile. That lawyer is a clown.

I just read the Grand Jury's findings - horrible. I think the media are generally reporting it right; maybe 85%. It's hard to believe that it allegedly happened for so long, to so many kids, and with the knowledge or suspicion of so many others. A lot of people need to explain themselves.

I saw much of the Costas piece. Sand'y might be trying to influence the jury before the trial starts, and he probably did, though not as he had intended. When somebody asks a man if he's attracted...the correct answer is 'No.', not, "...you know, no, I enjoy young people."

No idea WTH is going on with McQueary. Apparently he sent e-mails to former classmates & he's made statements that he broke up the shower situation, and that he did go to the police. That contradicts what's in the Grand Jury's report. That'll make the perjury cases against the 2 administrators pretty interesting - the main witness just lost his credibility.

                          The latest I heard:

The New York Times is reporting that Paterno signed his house over to his wife for a dollar back in July.

In July, Paterno Transferred Ownership of Home to His Wife for $1 - NYTimes.com

Mike McQueary said in a private email to a friend that he put a stop to the incident with the ten year old and that he did report it to police. It would not shock me to hear if there was some collusion between Penn State and the police department.

McQueary Penn State scandal: Mike McQueary says he did go to police - mcall.com

I read a good column on Grantland by Charlie Pierce where he outlines that a lot of these kinds of coverups are a result of loyalty to "the company" or "the brand" over morality and ethics. Makes a lot of sense... you see this in business and especially in politics.

How convenient. Coach Paterno transfers his house into his wife's name in July... Yeah... Of course he didn't see anything coming his way, huh? Gee, what a complete fraud. That guy's rep is destroyed. All those years down the drain. Their even taking his name off the trophies. I think I would rather be Pete Rose than this guy.

Their talking about taking down his statue as well. Gee how much is one man worth that he has a statue given to him in football? I hope people learn some lessons about how much adoration one should be placed on another.
