Needed to be fired. We will be hearing a lot more come out of this I am sure along with some arrests along the way. If athletics is suspended at the university, I do feel bad for the college students on the current teams who are now caught in the middle of this.
    It's all good!

I predict Paterno will be dead in 2 years or less. He's old, lived for football, and this scandal will send him to his grave.

The GA/now receivers coach Mike McQueary should not be coaching this week either.

Mike Madden, who broke this story in April, said on a radio show that there is a rumor Sandusky was actually pimping children from his non-profit organization to donors. If this is true, the cover-up could be deeper than it already appears.

it's funny cause some people wanted UM,USC, and Ohio state and their coaches tossed just for knowing their kids sold jerseys or took money for meals but then this school which has done 1000 times worse and some folks want to cut them slack? hell no, they fired him which was good but waited way too long and now the NCAA should step in, remove scholarships, fire more people and put the school on probation for years if you ask me

                This week?

How about never again. He supposedly witnessed a criminal act being committed against a child and his first reaction wasn't to beat the crap out of Sandusky?

Yeah, I heard about this earlier today. Hoping it's not true...

Also, I learned today about the 2005 disappearance of the prosecutor who chose not to prosecute Sandusky in 1998:

The Ray Gricar case is weird, and it happened only about 10 miles from me. His car was parked at a local antique mall (which I visit occasionally- sorry, no Megos I've found!). The laptop was found in the river that runs behind the building about 250 ft away. This is the first I've heard though of any Penn State ties, but he was the DA for that county so he would have been involved. The cops seemed to be focusing on him faking his death for awhile. At one point, some paranormal investigation show from Sci-Fi or discovery was out here trying to find "psychic impressuions" of his disappearance. I think they "felt" he was driven to an outlook and tossed into the river. Weird.

OK, I know nothing about sports, so I didn't have a clue who any of these people even were until this all happened, but when I read the story, this part really struck me hard. Someone witnesses a 10 year old boy getting raped, and he just leaves???? I'm not a tough guy at all, but if I witnessed such an act, I would do everything in my power to stop it. And after, I wouldn't just "report" it to a coach. I'd be telling the police, press, anyone who would listen. IMO this guy deserves punishment for his practical inaction upon witnessing such an event. What a poor excuse for a human being.

He won't be, and may be fired as well.

The rioting over Paterno's firing is nuts, they guy turned a blind eye to what was going on and he shouldn't get canned for it?

McQueary looks like a momma's boy backstabber. When it's all said and done I believe the entire coaching and athletic staff will be indicted. I don't think Paterno is off the hook by any measure. This appears to be just the start of many revelations to come. You can't have this kind of gross misconduct going on at a university and no one know. They clearly covered for him. And who is to say what Sandusky has on them? Maybe they were involved in his perversion? What amazes me is how shocked people are at Paterno's character in this. I mean REALLY folks? He's not a saint. And the fact he would walk around claiming himself to be the "moral authority" should have sent up a slew of red flags. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. He's just another example.

but...Joe Paterno is not bigger than Penn State. Nothing he says or doesn't say will change what has happened.

Joe Paterno enabled a sexual predator to run free on his campus. He could have stopped this.

Eventually what did Joe Paterno in is the cover-up. When will people in leadership and high positions learn that when you conceal and hide stuff like this it will eventually be your undoing.

I pity the man. He could have single handedly changed the course of this whole situation. He and others chose not to.

supposedly the State's Attorney's office here is looking at this too. Something may have gone on when they were last in the Outback Bowl in Tampa
