This whole thing is so messed up, I don't even know where to start.
I just read the entire statement/deposition on line from the graduate student. My jaw is still on the floor-- The mere fact that that Sandusky has 21 felony charges for sexually assaulting 8 young boys over the last 15 years, and is still walking the Earth, makes my blood boil.
Paterno covered this whole thing up, and in my mind is JUST as guilty in the whole thing. He should be absolutely ashamed of himself. What kind of man would have knowledge of such a thing and NOT report it to the police??? This is completely insane... Both of those men should be strung up by their balls. The grad student who witnessed the event, also should find a hole and crawl into it, never to see the light of day again-- You basically walk in on this horrid event and DON'T DO ANYTHING?!?!?!? You go and call your dad instead of intervening, STOPPING THE EVENT and beating the guy within an inch of his life, then turning him over to the cops???
I literally cannot comprehend the fact that someone actaully SAW this happening and did NOTHING-- Good God-- I'm angry.

How did Paterno cover anything up? This is happening in the area where I live, and it's been acknowledged that he reported what he knew. That fact that someone walked in and didn't do anything to stop it burns me up too.Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
Check out my customs!

Character: moral or ethical quality, qualities of honesty,courage, or the like;
If you know of wrong doing and say nothing, how are you better than those who do wrong and say nothing?...
Seems like the Nittany Lions are a little short of the goal line all around where this is concerned...Comment

Jay Bilas called the cover-up a conspiracy of cowards and he's right.
Sandusky was Paterno's heir apparent until he unexpectedly decided to retire in 1999. We now learn that in 1998 he was accused by a parent of hugging her son while showering with him in Penn St's locker room. That accusation wasn't mentioned at the time, but its clear now he didn't retire. He was fired under the table, but still allowed to be a part of the program. In 2002, a graduate assistant coach, who is now Penn State's receivers coach, witnessed him sodomizing a 10-year-old boy in the shower. GA tells Paterno. Paterno tell his superiors. Sandusky is told not to bring kids on campus with him. He's not banned, just told to conduct his perverted activities elsewhere. In all this, authorities and police never notified.
Sandusky, who played for Paterno and assistant coached for him for decades and played a huge role in the school being known as Linebacker U, has five adopted children and started a program for underprivileged boys. He was so popular among Nittany Lions faithful that an ice cream company named a flavor after him, "Sandusky Blitz."
Ok, here's my questions:
Does a man in his 60s just suddenly develop a sexual appetite for young boys, or had he been a predator for decades around the Happy Valley Campus?
Were there signs along the way. How long had he taken young boys on road and bowl trips with the team. Did he keep his activities covered up or were people turning their heads for years?
Did Sandusky molest his adopted kids?
Did the graduate assistant, who is now a highly paid assistant coach get promoted to keep quiet? For that matter did he blackmail Paterno with the information to get a promotion?
Why weren't the police notified in 1998 of the incident? Why weren't the police notified by someone in the chain in 2002?
Why wasn't Sandusky barred from the program in 1998 and particularly in 2002?
And finally, did Paterno fight to hold on to his position so long to keep all of this under wraps?
Some of those questions are out there, but it's where my mind has gone in reading about this tragedy and travesty.
Penn State's entire administration from the president to AD to head football coach needs to go. Penn State's president is Graham Spanier. He's the head of the BCS (Bowl championship series) Oversight Committee and early this year gave a huge speech about integrity and doing things the right way.
The right thing for him to do is fire Paterno and anyone on the record for knowing about the issue, today — not at the end of the season — and resign himself.
Beating Nebraska's not as important as cleaning up Penn State's program.Comment

So many people on the sports message boards are feeling sorry for Paterno.
The children molested by this monster is who we need to feel sorry for. Their childhood innocence was stolen from them. They'll never get that back. These men will get other jobs and cushy retirements.
Edited: I know these boys are young men now, but I'm speaking of them in the past tense.Last edited by Megospidey; Nov 9, '11, 5:38 PM.Comment

Every good thing Paterno has done over the years, every good person he taught through 46 years and every accomplishment he has acheived is now void. The entire school administration is to blame for this. The conspiracies and cover-ups are so obvious now that the ugliness has been brought to light.
1. There were allegations of abuse in 1998, and this dude suddenly, without any reasoning, retired in 1999. Cooincidence?
2. The grad assistant who witnessed the shower incident not only didn't do anything to stop it, he didn't even go to police. He went to JoPa to keep it in-house. He was out to get a full-time job and was only looking out for his own interests.
3. Paterno knew about this in 2002 and never followed up, never questioned anyone after reporting to his supervisor. Every boy who was subsequently touched, harmed and sodomized is solely on his wrinkly, shriveled hands. He's as guilty as the monster who did the deeds, it might as well have been a threesome.
There really aren't words to describe the depths of pathetic and horrible this situation is. Every administration official is guilty of child molestation, even if as an an accessory. Paterno should have been out today, period. I am seriously disappointed in this as I've always been a moderate Penn State supporter and Paterno fan. I am now physically nauseous after learning about all of this. The AD, VP and the assistant witness should be jailed and get some first-hand experience to what those boys went through.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.Comment
