"Hey, it's the theme to CSI!"
I remember when I worked in the after-school group, when Shrek came out, the kids kept calling "I'm A Believer" the Shrek song. I played my Monkees album for them and told them if they ever wanted to hear that album again, they could never call it the Shrek song again. They never called it that after that.

Playing Abbey Road on a "Boom Box" and having a kid in his late-teens come up to you and say "Hey, these are cool songs, who is it?"

Realizing that the average age of anyone who was at the original Woodstock is 61.
      It's all good!

The way my pants seem to be getting higher every year and my growing fascination with white shoes and lawn bowling.

Here's one.. I remember sitting around back in '75/'76 thinking it was 'so long' since the Beatles broke up...

And, I remember my young nephew (now in his 20s), loving 'The Tick' cartoon and getting freaked out that his assistant (voiced by Micky Dolenz) was actually in a band once..

this one's a little sad but terribly true... On July 4th a soldier from the town I'm in was killed in Afghanistan. The majority of this week I've had to cover and report on all of the memorial services for the young man. Building a title graphic listing his birth and death 1990 - 2010 just breaks my heart. This young life got snubbed out before he even got started. In 1990 I was a 16 year old sophomore in High School, playing in a band, writing for two newspapers and wondering what would come next... To think of how this kid was only 20, it just, well it just makes me sad and retrospective. So I guess my point is that when I was 16 this kid was just born and in the span of twenty years I've had an interesting life full of sometimes brilliant experiences and other times remarkably stupid pursuits. It makes me really appreciate every day more so now than before. And with the tinges of age starting to creep up on me taking me ever closer to that final breath, I can't help but hope and pray that my life doesn't get snuffed out so early even though I received almost twice as much living as Army Specialist Clay McGarrah and took even more of that time for granted.

Sorry for the downer post but I had to get it off my chest. It's been a rough week.

The not getting carded thing doesn't bother me. I wasn't being carded at 17. So why would I worry about it now?

We all started out carded and eventually we will all end up MIB.

                              Okay, maybe not mint.
