Things that make you feel old.

Wilford Brimley was only four years older than me when he filmed Cocoon.

    He was 50. I'm 46.

That makes me feel very old.

    I was born in 1969.

Seeing an old TV show or film where they have a rotary phone or someone changing the channels on a tv by turning a knob.

Try explaining Records to people 15 years or older.

Kids shows/cartoons of the 1980's that I never watched, (Transformers, Go-Bots, Thundercats).

totally not in a perv way but seeing girls my daughters age (19) that i was cool enough and young enough to date....

still young as a daisy in my mind but my body feels like its 57 rather than 37

my back and legs ache mix that in with my constant hernia severed nerve pain and its a long day... saw an old mate the other day though and he lost both legs in the war, so complaining my legs are aching is a bit silly really

working in my vintage toy shop every day makes me feel young... the customers contantly moan that coming in the store makes them feel old! but i dont agree, i get to play with cool toys all day that makes me feel young, i feel total reverse to some people

also already mentioned jacey my 19 year old and then i have megan-summer 2!!! having her now makes me feel old i was much fitter and up for the challenge 19 years ago lol

        - When I mention a show or a band or a celebrity from my youth and people say they've never heard of it.

        - 8-Track tapes.

        - I know who all of the celebrities who are dying are.

        - I know what a Betamax machine is.

        - I miss Johnny Carson, and the original Late Night with David Letterman.

All of these things make me feel old.

Everytime I see a child born after 2000 I feel old and outdated... from a different century... especially since I still drive a car from 1999.

Everytime I hear Pearl Jam and Nirvana play on the "Lite FM" station, or when I hear the phrase "80's, 90's and Today" to describe a radio station I recall being described as "60's, 70's and Today" not THAT long ago.... I cringe.

Realizing my 20yr High School reunion is coming up in 4 yrs scares me.

Not getting carded when I order an appletini at dinner makes me sad.

Here's a good one... I'm 34 and my husband is 44, and we went shopping. The little girl at the register first Ma'ams me, and then asks my husband if he has his senior citizen discount card.

That about sums it up for me, except I AM a perv...
and I am a YEAR older than you (at least? I'm 38).
In many ways, feel as young as the girls I ogle, but ache like an old man.
One of the reasons I like to perform in a band is the adrenaline rush
that takes a lot of the body pain away.

There's other stuff too...but I can't think of it right now. Good thread tho'.

              Ditto, Ditto, Ditto..

              - Remembering the day when "All Things Must Pass" came out... (my older brother was a huge Beatles/Harrison fan.., which is where I got it from obviously..)

              - Talking to enlisted soldiers here who were born in the '80s while I was in college..

              - Tell younger soldiers I was stationed Germany in Artillery during the 'Fulda Gap' days (pre-Wall falling).

              - AND, yes, those young, twentysomething ladies...

              Oh.., "the pain, the pain.."

I wonder how many kids today even know there was a time when Germany was divided?

Think about this... the Berlin Wall stood for 28 years.

This year marks 21 years since it came down. It won't be long before it's been down LONGER than it was ever up. Soon, that whole period of time will be a small blip in history.

The first time your daughter gets underwear from Victoria's Secret
                      Sending a child to college

seeing shows you watched as a kid redone as new major motion pictures usually dadly (Starsky & Hutch, A-team, SWAT) or worse reimagined as new tv shows (V, Knight Rider, Bionic woman, Battestar Gallactica)

realizing classic rock moved to the oldies station (that uised to play 50-60's), and the oldies have moved to the AM band and the stuff from the 40-50's isn't even on the radio

the first car you ever had is now an antique or classic car

                        - Checking the copyright date on "Seinfeld" reruns and realizing some episodes are 20 years old
                        - Hearing stuff like "Pink Houses", "Walk Like an Egyptian" and "Born in the USA" on the Oldies channel

I was just about to type this one! I was watching the tail end of
THE COSBY SHOW and the copyright date came up and said 1985. I was like "what!!" cause I clearly remember watching that same episode (along with all of them) when they were on the air. Same with an episode of DIFFRENT STROKES that was randomly on the other day.

At my job recently, I told this co worker I saw BACK TO THE FUTURE in the theatre when it came out. He said "Damn you must be OLD!!". Considering he was born in 1989 I guess it was to him but to me it doesn't seem that old.

Also when movies you grew up with are on the Classic Movie channel. That makes me feel old.
