I'm so glad the "acting" Italians are out...
France and Italy didn't make it past the first round. First time the two previous finalists were eliminated this early.
Africans in the African continent were really disappointing...only Ghana going to the second round.
All of the South Americans are through so far (waiting on Chile though).
Two outta three CONCACAF teams, USA & Mexico, are through...only Honduras is out.
Two Asian teams, Japan and South Korea are through...and Japan has been really impressive so far.
You can see all the games opening up now...no more cruising for ties...teams have to win now...or you are out.
This World Cup is just getting warmed up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're not a real soccer fan, cause if you were you'd know that mistakes like these by the refs happen all the time. This has nothing to do with the US`But you guys really played on the edge, couldn't score a little sooner, could you? Many congrats tho
I know mistakes happen and that's a part of all sports. I also admitted that I was just getting a bit annoyed and started to wonder. You are right that the US team should have scored earlier and not been in that position to begin with. BUT... as a soccer fan you know that this is a fickle game in which your team can dominate a match and still lose 1-0. The US did a great job not giving up and I look forward to the next match.
BTW, are you pulling for the Dutch side?WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment

I gotta take exception with that, Thomas. I am a life-long player and fan. Started playing when I was 8 and have been in goal sice I was 12. (in fact I actually played oncer for a Coca-Cola-sponsored team in Brussells!). You cut me deeply

And yes, definitely pulling for the Dutch. My family in Holland would kill me if I didn't"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

Many are rabid fans...no doubt.
But many simply don't care....or at least...don't follow the sport much.
I've been talking to many people around me about the USA in the WC...and I'm still amazed at how many people don't even know what the WC is about...I kid you not.
I mean...they hear about the USA in the news, and they cheer for them simply because it's the USA squad...but many hardly watch the matches on TV.
One dude said to me, "I've heard they won"...
"I've HEARD they won???"
Come one...
And the American media...sure they rally behind the USA...but when it's not a World Cup...soccer just gets minor coverage here.
ESPN Sportcenter is notorious for making fun of soccer year round...and the MLS (major league soccer) takes a back seat to American football, basketball, baseball, Nascar, hockey, and even tennis.
This is a fact.
But the real hardcore American soccer fans are really supportive...and they keep the game alive in the States...so I applaud them.
I support both USA and Mexico...as I have double citizenship.
USA, my birthplace...Mexico...the land of my parents.
Besides...the USA squad has a couple of beaners too...and Donovan speaks perfect Spanish...lol...

This reminds me, when Mexico lost against Uruguay 3 Mexican fans got so angry they shoved a vuvuzela up a Uruguayan's behind. True story"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment
