That means only one thing...South Africa will never host the World Cup again.

Gotta agree, those vuvuzelas are friggin annoying
Wouldn't be surprised if they're banned in the next World Cup

Holland are off to a winner but did not look like a team that was going to win the tournament.

So far I have been very impressed with Argentina. I realize that Maradonna is not a coach and is mostly there for morale.

The attack from Argentina was out of control and Messi, nearly scored 4 or 5 times himself. It will be interesting to see if they continue with the agressive attack formation once they start facing tougher teams.

I had Argentina written off but I don't know...they looked really good even though the result didn't reflect how much they dominated.

Germany was unbelievable....4-0....wow! On the other hand the U.S. beat Australia 3-1 just a few weeks ago. I don't think the U.S. or England will have any problems advancing unless one of them gets out of rhythm. The U.S. just needs to keep playing as a team and not get overly anxious or nervous. They did look spooked by England the first 15 minutes or so but then grew in confindence as the game progressed. As they gain more and more composure, they'll just get better. I would prefer to go into the knockout bracket as the 1st seed so we can play Ghana presumably rather than Germany....but one game at a time.

Argentina was really coming to gether just before the tournement began. I know they barely made the cut, but since then they have improved. I do ownder if that out-of-control nature of the attack might lead better teams to strong counters. Especially with Argentina's back line.

I wish they could be more definitive about Howard's ribs. They keep saying they are debating on more tests. I reaklize they want the swelling and soreness to go down, but an x-ray should be able to tell pretty quickly (unless its a small hair-line fracture).

                        Italy and Paraguay...1-1.

Italy looks old and slow...they are not going to repeat as champions.

Italy is one of the teams I suspected was overrated and will not go deep into the tournament. France is another one. I mentioned Argentina and Portugal as well. Argentina looked impressive but I don't know how they will fare against a really strong opponent. Maradonna isn't really a coach but more of a motivating figurehead. I suspect Argentina will lose when they match up against a really good technical team. He probably won't change his general tactics which is to throw three strikers up which makes them vulnerable to a counter attack. We'll find out about Portugal soon. They are already in the group of death as it is so that's their first challenge....get out of the pool in one piece and hopefully advance to the round of 16.

New Zealand make history and score their first world cup point with a dramatic goal 20 seconds from the end of injury time.
