I'm telling you, the refs have something out for the USA. For those that didn't watch, we scored a goal in the game but called offsides. Over and over in slow motion, they show it and it is not offsides. That is two games in a row now and what I hate about soccer. I realize that mistakes happen but if Italy had done the same thing...there would have been no call.....I'm glad the USA is going through as the #1 seed and did win but still bothered by these lame calls against us that are making a difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're not a real soccer fan, cause if you were you'd know that mistakes like these by the refs happen all the time. This has nothing to do with the US `But you guys really played on the edge, couldn't score a little sooner, could you? Many congrats tho

Yeah...Argentina is the most hated amongst Latin Americans...lol.

Maybe in your neck of the woods they are, but not over here, certainly not with Maradona as trainer. But yeah, Brazil is very popular here too

Even Uruguayans hate them (like Lady Zod)...and that's the country most similar to Argentina in all of Latin America.

Actually it should be that Argentina is most similar to Uruguay. And there's reason for that... most of their culture was copped from Uruguay.

Heck, they even claim to have invented the TANGO! Carlos Gardel the Tango King was born in Uruguay (no matter what the Argentines claim, his birth records show he was born on the right side of the Rio de la Plata.)

They lay claim to the Gaucho, Uruguay's national hero.

They lay claim to Mate', even though it is not exclusive to that country. Many have it, and most South American countries identify it as the national drink of Uruguay.

But I guess they justify their claims with the old standby of Uruguay was once part of Argentina. Right. You could say Uruguay was once part of Brazil too if you want to play those games. The territory that became Uruguay was a no man's land and even was the prize fought for in the Argentine-Brazil War... which ended in the Treaty of Montevideo, and formation of Uruguay.... way back in the 1800's.

In short, through varies military aggressions, Argentina has at one time or another tried to annex Uruguay, a much smaller, poorer nation. And each time they get PWNd. So, they've stolen the culture and with better PR are known as the BBQ and steak kings of the world.

At least that is how Uruguayans see it. I'm sure if you ask an Argentine the story is different.

But there's got to be something there, if every other country in South America views the Argentines with distaste.

And like fun loving latins, we settle our business on the soccer field

Oh, and Maradona is a blood doping tool.

Italy is out and I can't say I'm sad about it. They've been tring to win from the penalty spot rather than the field and I've grown quite tired of the dramatics.

Actually, I'm a huge soccer fan and I do know that mistakes happen all the time. I do follow U.S. soccer more than any other country and have watched numerous matches throughout the years when penalties were controversy has caused us to lose games. It especially happens in the World Cup. If it had been Brazil or Italy in the exact same situation....there would have been no offsides called and Edu's goal would not have been called back.

Mistakes do happen and I think being passionate about the USA; it has been particularly frustrating to watch two bad calls could have cost us advancement. I don't mind walking home in defeat and getting beat by the better team but the Slovenia call and the offsides call against Algeria was ridiculous.

I knew you were going to take exception...just like my Uruguayan neighbor...lol...you guys have said the same thing...lol.

My sister has two Argentine friends...and they say the complete opposite...lol.

That's why to the rest of us...both Argentina and Uruguay are cousins...fighting cousins...always hating on each other...
