Trying to come up with something different for dinner today:

Beef Tips over rice with green beans.

The difference was I used the beef fajitas

    HEB prices:
.fully cooked & season beef fajitas....$10
    Rice 1 cup.,.75 cents
    Can of Green beans..88 cents
    Brown gravy mix $1

    Total... Around $13 comes to $2.60 a plate (5).

I'm off to White Castle to get a Sack -o-ten and a medium fry. Had Chicken Soup from Pete's Market all day yesterday

Appetite fluctuates when I am sick and feeling healthy.

Today for lunch I made Chicken Tenders with mashed potatoes, peas, corn and homemade gravy.

    PXL_20240626_204013821.MP~3.jpg

Chicken tenders not (already battered) $9
    Can of peas 70 cents
    Can of corn 90 vents
Mashed potatoes (box cost $2 and I only used enough for a family of 6)
Gravy I made from scratch so the cost of milk, butter and flour $1.75

At the highest $14 for a family of 5 is around $3 a plate.

A few days ago at a family get-together I made/brought my signature dish Ukrainian Borsch.

    Seemed to go pretty well

Can't really go wrong with beet juice mixed with pig fat and salt

Hospital cafeterias are a nice resource. People think I'm weird for wanting to check them out, but they often have good healthy food at lower prices.

Had some thin sliced chuck steak that Kroger sells for carne asada...really nicely marbled. Cut a 3" disc in half again and cooked in butter w/ flaked onion. Had a steak, egg white, and chee muffin for brekkie - not bad.

Made bean salad for dinner with a bagged salad, but wanted some more protein. Had a small turkey burger with Humboldt Fog chee and HP sauce on a toasted bun. Delish. Washing it down with a NA Corona w/ a slice of lime. Good stuff.

Happy Fathers Day 2024: My Dad loves Chicken-n-Rice so I had to make a big batch for the whole family. It's not much but it's his choice and we all enjoy it.
Start with a bag of chicken tenders with a big can of cream of chicken and a cup and half of rice.
With green beans and corn on the cob and you have a good meal.

    Cost at grocery store: $17
Each plate (7 in all): $2.43

KingKickass1983 nothing wrong with that. When we go to Whatabuger I sometime get their breakfast burger that is a burger with a fried egg and hashbrowns on it.

I started working a new job a month ago, so been eating like garbage...

but today, I figured I'd prep some meals, it turned out to be a pile of burger patties.

Gotta say, two burgers with a fried egg on top followed by an ice cold PBR really hit.

Home Cooking: Today my father wanted spaghetti but we did not have all the shortcut methods so I had to go old school and make it from scratch.

My father gets upset when his spaghetti doesn't have meatballs, lucky when had hamburger patties that were thawed out so in the bowl they go with Italian seasoning, oragneo, and some dined onion. Yeah I am old enough that I learned to make meatballs by hand.

Again we did not have canned spaghetti sauce but we did have homemade tomato sauce from my own tomatoes. Again added in the seasonings with some tomatoes that were getting a little mushy. We did add in the vegan Italian ground beef so my family will eat veggies.

Luckily we had spaghetti noodles so I did not have to make that by hand.

Since summer is hear it's time to eat lighter meals. Today we made BLTs. Making 5 sandwichs means a whole pack of thick cut bacon ($5). The veggies come from the garden so that cut cost.

Yes we add onion and cheese, there are no rules here.
