^ I hear Denny's is selling more Thing burgers than Fox is tickets.

Seems ironic that Denny's is the only chain to market Fant 4 Stic.
They have a lot in common. For $8.00 they will both serve you a steaming pile of garbage that's impossible to keep down.

Yes, its a real example of how not to do a Marvel franchise, alienated the fans from day one by not going to the comic book source material. Doctor Doom is nothing like Doctor Doom, very much like how Sony treated the Green Goblin. Director blaming others is poor show, at least be a man about it and take full responsibility for this train wreck of a movie.

Disingenuous and woe-is-me, I'm thinking. If Josh Trank was that upset, he should have insisted on the Alan Smithee option.

(I thought the Defoe Goblin was pretty gobliny, just poorly costumed in something more suited to the Scorpion.)

If the movie was good the dierctor would be taking the credit, but because it is a disaster, he want's to distance himself. I do think Sony did some damage to it but
they must have thought it was bad movie already . If there was a good version one year ago than why would'nt they have released it ?

Max Landis, who I usually don't buy from, had a really good breakdown via Twitter. When you parse it, he's saying Trank is a good dude, but he had no idea what he was getting himself into. The last line reads as if he Max is acknowledging Trank tapped out during production, which was the rumor.

I didn't realize Trank's resume was so shallow. Fox got what they deserved then.

It will be interesting to see what effect this movie debacle has on the studio as a business. They seem to have thrown away all the money spent to make the movie as well as potential profits from the planned series of films. This movie could manage to turn a profit but I doubt it will do well enough to ensure a sequel.

Josh Trank swears it wasn't his fault, says Fox pulled 3 key action scenes.
During Collider Movie Talk, John Campea revealed that multiple sources had informed him that 20th Century Fox had agreed to let Josh Trank (Chronicle) film his vision of the Fantastic Four, but days before the director was to begin filming Fox pulled the rug from under Trank’s feet by taking out several big set pieces. It sounds like this movie has bigger problems than the number of action sequences it contains. Trank seems like some one desperately trying to salvage his reputation and save his career.

If they cut that much, you know what you do? Call your agent and walk away. I don't buy that it was so arbitrary, and I his removal from the editing bay was because they fired him.

While Josh Trank sent out a Tweet last night laying the blame for Fantastic Four's terrible reviews at the feet of Fox, a new report reveals that his "destructive and combative behaviour" towards the cast and crew is what led to the movie turning out the way it did...

i saw the movie yesterday. If you can get over it not being at all faithful to the Kirby/Lee version of the FF, it's about average for a fantasy/sci-fi genre movie. It's not good, but it's not awful.

I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone see it, particularly in the theaters, because there is much better stuff out there to see. But, it didn't rot my brain or burn my eyes out.

They did a nice job of portraying the FF's powers. There's a sequence that is reminiscent of the FF's escape from confinement from Fantastic Four No. 2 that was well done, but that's the best thing I can say about it.

I see this as a blood-in-the-water critic's feeding frenzy. Don't get me wrong, it's not a good movie. Very, very average.

Reminds me a lot of the Green Lantern movie, which wasn't a good movie either, but in a couple of years when this FF movie is making the rounds on cable, I can imagine people thinking, "Well, it wasn't as bad as I heard" the same way many did about the GL film.

The difference is that the GL movie attempted to adapt the comic to screen in a fairly faithful fashion. This FF movie didn't. Ben and Johnny are somewhat similar in personality to the comic characters, but Reed and Sue are way off. Doom is Doom in name only.

I'm probably too big of an FF fan to enjoy a take so different from comics. Maybe if it was better made I would have focused more on the story than making a mental checklist of how far off the characterizations were from the source material.

The upside of this film crashing and burning is that Marvel Studios might be able to gain control or at least some control of the FF characters like it has with Spider-Man. But the ground is going to be so scorched after this flop, the question is whether it will be worth it for Marvel to even worry about getting the rights back.

If Marvel got the rights back, they would have to shift it to a TV series like DD. FF is damaged goods. Perhaps a cameo in Avengers, GOTG or something

or...this has turned into such a massive debacle, beyond what any of us considered, it actually becomes the most anticipated Marvel project since Avengers.

Imagine how intense the coverage would be, and not just fan sites. All entertainment outlets would be on this from first developments.

And that's probably what stops Fox from handing it over. A Guardian-level FF from Marvel would get a lot of top people at Fox fired. I'd bet we're heading towards a Spidey shared ownership deal. Fox gets distribution and saves face, Marvel gets the catalog of characters.

I'm wondering if FF is a red herring and this is all a fight over Wolverine. Fiege was one of the main reasons Jackman was cast the first time. I could see him wanting Hugh before he cashes out and control over the X-Men TV show.
