I really like the first two films. They got far more right than they got wrong. The chemistry between Ben and Johnny is spot on and they're just a lot of fun to watch, which an FF movie should be.

That said, I too will be giving my money to an encore of Ant-Man this weekend. Can't think of a better way to send a message.

Just re-edit and add cgi to the Roger Corman 94 version, give it a new sound track and your good to go.

Fantastic Four's cast shows no faith, expects bad reviews

As an aside, it was also a superhero film you could bring a kid to. Mine were small at the time and while my son was a huge Batman fan, Bale would have scared the crap out of him. He has fond memories of the FF movies.

^At the very least, that's important to me. I didn't feel like I could show my daughter the Garfiled Spidey movies, whereas she could enjoy the Raimi ones. No more gloom, please.

I like the Story FF films. They are fun, and I feel the spirit of the comic is there. I think the casting could have been better with Reed and Sue, but they all did well with what they were given. Doom was absolutely horrible, and a total misfire, casting a flavor-of-the-week actor who has since faded into obscurity (as far as I know). I liked the second movie better than the first, because I thought they did pretty well by the Silver Surfer. Yes, Galactus was a cloud and they kind of chickened out on it, but it worked within the film.

They aren't masterpieces, but they are entertaining, and again, evoke the spirit of the early comics pretty well. Heck, the Corman film does, with no budget, but with a very committed cast and crew, doing the best they could with absolutely no support.

Somehow, I followed a link to AICN and read the entire thread...

...if any of those spoilers turn out to be accurate. WOW. Forget the pacing, shoddy effects...the supposed "science logic" is so convoluted, no wonder it would derail the movie's pace.

I echo the thoughts of many here; the two Story-directed FF movies, while not great, were entertaining, basic fun and FELT a little like reading an FF comic. Evans and Chiklis nailed the Torch-Thing rivalry really well and, as a big fan of Chiklis', I enjoyed his take on The Thing, latex suit and all. At least that Thing had pants and only three fingers and a bit of The Thing's comic book humour and crankiness. I actually bought the extended version of the first FF movie and it plays better than the theatrical release; gives the characters a little more, well, character.
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Couldn't agree more. I love Chiklis' Thing. (That sounded way more pervy than it should.) Anyhow...my favorite part is when he interrupts the bridge jumper. "Hey! You think you got problems?" Classic...I bust up every time.

LOL! Yes--and when the pigeon poops on him! Classic!

EXACTLY my thoughts on them. Not great, but fun, and a lot like the early comics (especially Johnny and Ben) and I've never understood all the hate toward them.

OMG! Just when you think this movie can't POSSIBLY get any worse, they put out a clip of "Doctor Doom" menacingly (hah!) walking down a hallway looking, for all intents and purposes, more like a metallic version of the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz instead of looking like the iron-clad despot he should be. This version even makes Story's Doom look good...
