Rush another Fantastic Four movie into production. A reboot (of course).

And this time make it so when we join the F4 at the start of this reboot, it's after they've had their powers for a few years.

And they should make it so that, for some reason that's analogical to the franchise's horrible cinema track-record, that the F4 aren't allowed to work as superheroes anymore---

Then the rest of the movie should be the F4 "returning to their roots---the things that made them respectable heroes before" so as to win back the public's trust by the end of the film.

Maybe that's a good enough marketing/production strategy to get this iconically vital Marvel super-team out there again pronto!

Live action. Fantastic Four. ASAP. The plot I mentioned.

The plot similarities to an animated hit from a decade ago? Total coincidence.

Had to look up the flick referred to's wiki page to confirm your comparison.

Incidentally? I don't care what the rest of the world thought---I was underwhelmed by it. Still haven't seen it straight through.

Maybe if they took it to live-action in this oh-so-appropriate plot archetype, I'd actually make it through the film.

That was the plan after Rise of Surfer. Alba and Evans weren't coming back, maybe Gruffold and Thing was to be a CG/Animatronic mix. Alice Eve was sought for Sue and Willis for Grimm's voice. Then Matthew Vaughn became the great savior due to First Class, so they handed him all the Marvel properties. He brought in Ego The Living Planet aka Mark Millar, and everything was scrapped for an Ultimate FF...and now here we are.

I knew something was up when producers kept changing, Vaughn got knocked off the X series, Kinberg took over everything and Millar went from being the "Kevin Fiege" of Fox's MCU, to not even acknowledging he made that claim. And by the timeline, this all starts to dismantle when FF gets close to principle shooting. So either those guys knew Fox was not going to make the right film, and bailed, or Fox tossed them off all the properties.

Well, it is what it is. Anything can happen---even the craziest things when big egos and big money come into play. I sincerely do find it fascinating. Probably a symptom of why I'm here in La-la Land

If I were calling the shots? I'd put a damage-control "analogy" type plot production of F4 into the works ASAP. The iron is still too hot NOT to.

If I was Fox, i would flog the filming rights to Marvel as quick as possible or maybe do something similar to Sony with Spider-Man. Its not too late for the Fantastic Four to feature in Marvel phase 3 Infinity War.

Fox really needs to take a look back, then contact Sony about there deal with Marvel and make deal. I really want to see:

Second place, 27 million. Record breaker...

This isn't all that original, but it's what I think Marvel should do if they get the FF back in whole or part. The FF and Doom would be cast like Kirby/Lee originally created them. The movie would basically be a period piece, but it might start with a 60-minutes type news show doing a feature, "Whatever happened to the Fantastic Four?" The news show montage would recap the origin, the FF fighting the Mole Man and the Skrulls and maybe even Namor to get them up to Dr. Doom. At that point, the story would pick up with Doom's first appearance from the comics, which features his time machine. They do Doom's origin right, making the connections to Reed and touching on him wanting to save his Mom from Hell. The FF battle and defeat Doom, but at the end Doom escapes by jumping into the time machine/stream. The FF decide he's too dangerous to be left free and they follow him into the time stream. The news show comes back and basically said we haven't heard from the FF or Dr. Doom since. Credits. The mid-credit scene is Doom showing up in 2001 and witnessing 9/11. The post-credit scene is the FF arriving in our current time, but learn that Doom has taken over the U.S. as dictator and is waging war on the rest of the world. This would set up an Avengers-FF team-up movie as a sequel where they take down Doom and by doing so returning history to the normal MCU timeline.

Then it could be decided whether to leave the FF in the current time period or to return them to the past at some point or to just let them travel in time and space for new adventures.

This would allow the FF to be true to it's roots, but also to connect them to the current MCU fairly quickly.

Mission Impossible is destroying Fantastic Four in the foreign market as well, and keep in mind...this is Mission Impossible's second week of release...as opposed to the brand new first week Fantastic Four debut...

Wait until next weekend as word of mouth spreads about the film. Superhero movies, even the big hits, drop substantially the second weekend. I suspect this movie will free fall without a chute while holding an anvil.

Also keep in mind that overseas a lot of comic book characters have limited to no exposure in that medium. Unlike here. The characters are known from appearances in other media if at all.
