I heard the in-movie origin of "It's Clobberin' Time". Ugh.

Here's how I'd like to see an FF movie, which I've said for awhile, but now I want it even more thanks to the back story in in Ant-Man. Set it in the 60s, and follow the Lee/Kirby vibe pretty closely. Throw in Haley Atwell, slightly aged into her 40s, and have her and Howard Stark (whichever one works) as pals and wartime allies of Reed and Ben. Have Pym as Ant-Man show up, if that works within in the timeline (that may be pushing it). Set a movie or two in the 60s, and then end it with them going into the Negative Zone. When they come out...BAM!...they are in the modern MCU. I know it's a bit like Cap, but I don't care, I want my Lee/Kirby FF,

that would be cool it would have a great soundtrack too and great mod/op art outfits.they could make it really colourful like batman66 tv series.it won't happen though if they can take something as colourful as a comic and make it look washed out what chance have we got of seeing something new and vibrant.

Yeah and apparently Fox wouldn't even let the actors see a finished version of the movie. A little awkward as they couldn't even comment about the movie in early interviews because they hadn't seen the finished product.

Wow! That's what I call tanking your career in Hollywood. It's never a good idea to derail a movie on opening day when your name is on it and it's already facing a uphill battle to draw public interest. Consider him blacklisted.

A couple of reports mention that the only one who seems to get into their character at all is Johnny Storm. The rest (according to one article) especially Doom, just walk around like emo kids.

I rewatched Corman's FF last night and while it's certainly not great, I kind of wonder what would happen if you took it's basic premise (which is fairly close to the comics) and put the Fox money behind it.

Also note the early Thursday showings were awful. New adjusted totals for opening weekend have dropped from $46 million to...possibly $25 million.

If anyone here decides to see this trainwreck (which, we all know people just love gawking at things like that), then do the smart idea that someone else had: if the showtimes are close to one another, go see FLOPPIN' FOUR, but buy a ticket for ANT-MAN! That way, you're still giving money to a studio who cares about what comic book based movies should be and you're not adding any coin to FOX's coffers for this debacle...

Johnny Storm being black is the least of this movie's problems...like an esteemed poster said (off a report)...he seems to be the only one on board...the others sleepwalked through this mess...

I don't know how Mark Millar is not being held responsible. Forget that he wrote Ultimate FF, the guy pitched himself to Fox as their Kevin Fiege. He then set in motion all of this, with the help of Matthew Vaughn. He convinced Fox to go with an Ultimate FF reboot, he was on board with Trank as director. When things started going south, he started denying the "orchestrator" title and acted as if Kingsman was his only real Fox involvement.

Fox's problem is they have a model they want their genre film launches to adhere to; limited locations and cast, one big special effects ending. it can't work for a project like FF and they don't see the returns for going all-in. Like other studios they got fixated on not losing blue chips, which is what Jordan and Trank were considered. But when you mix/match the wrong people with the wrong properties, game over.

Think about it this way; New Mutants was in production at the same time as FF. A decision was made to freeze New Mutants, but as we can see, a lot of those ideas bled into FF. Just look at the cast: Teller/Cannonball, Jordan/Sunspot, Bell/Wolfsbane, Mara/Magik. Trank's style for an X film would have fit perfectly, probably better than Singer. But Fox had to do something with FF as this was the same time the Daredevil handover went down. I'm guessing Marvel wanted not just the main team, but moreso the secondary properties attached to it, so they said crap or get off the pot. When Fox went ahead, Marvel got angry.

The crazy thing about it is Fox doesn't need Marvel to make a great movie. They just do not understand the property and cannot find anyone who actually likes it. That's always been the problem with the FF; it's been turned down by huge names since Spidey '02. The only guy who wanted to direct it was Ang Lee because he learned about them from the Ice Storm, where they're treated as symbolism of the family in the story. Fox and Marvel both say they other side said "no", but Arad then handed Ang Hulk...which was a yuge mistake.

I just don't get it. No other movie in history has appeared this universally screwy to me as far as the whole process, and public perception of it.

It doesn't seem possible---it's like everyone, corporate and consumer alike, is part of the process more than ever---but, I guess it's the result of our society's ever-building intense media reporting and interwoven Internet communication, add to that that this is the "hot" "hip" anticipated superhero property product sought so much today, consider the VERY loose lips on part of actors (and others directly involved in the production), and it's down a freakin' big rabbit hole.

Usually I focus on "following the money" when looking at "Hollywood strategy" type stuff like this, but, with this specific F4 scenario, I can't help but think:
"Forget the money loss... it's more amazing what a waste of everyone's time/energy this appears to be."
