^One thing that I think contributes to the success of Marvel movies that people may not consciously realize, is Marvel has something huge that DC does not. Stan Lee.
Marvel, as a company, is more recognized by the common man thanks to Stan giving it a face for decades. Love him or hate him, there's no doubt he's one of the greatest PR men in history. The guy is constantly on TV being interviewed about his co-creations every time a new Marvel flick comes out. Not to mention the cameos in practically every Marvel film. He is a huge part of the Marvel "brand" and his constant presence and grandfatherly warmth and appeal gives people warm fuzzies when they think of Marvel. The guy has done for comics what Colonel Sanders did for chicken. He made his the go-to brand, and the one people think of most.
