If we rated Batman according to cosmetics only, my list would look entirely different.

    1) Batman Dead end
    2) Batman Returns
    3) Batman '89
    4) Dark Knight
    5) Batman '66
    6) Batman Begins
    7) Batman Forever
    8) Batman and Robin
    9) Batman serials

I've seen it. And I appreciate the technical accomplishments that it contains.

But I'm probably the only board member who wasn't blown away by it. Just me.

^I'm in the same boat, so you're not alone. Definitely enjoyed it. But an 8-minute film and a 2-hour film are two entirely different things. Not saying that it couldn't be sustained, but I think audiences would have a hard time swallowing such a muscle-bound Bruce Wayne.

I have to go on record and say The Dark Knight isn't nearly as good as people think. The plot is too complex for the over-the-top and fast paced action. They tried to make a "thinking man's film" I think, but totally failed because it gives you no time to think.

Then in the end, it all seems so silly. Just as silly as the 60s Batman movie, if you ask me. Maybe even more silly, as it plays the whole thing straight. At least the 60s film were tongue-in-cheek. But watching the interrogation with Batman and The Joker is laughable. They're trying to be realistic and serious with a guy in a Bat suit and one in clown make-up. Regardless of how cool and gritty it looks, it's still unrealistic and silly.

When I go to a movie based on a comic book, I want to see a great movie, not a comic book that's been turned into a movie...

...I admit that I have nostalgia for the first two Burton Batman movies, they were a big deal for me at the time, but I simply can't sit through them anymore.
Thank you Village Idiot! As the Branded Moron, I am happy to know that I am in good company!

I also find it very difficult to sit all the way through any of the first four movies these days, even my favorite of the time...Batman Returns.

I rember how exciting it was sitting in the movie theater and seeing the Batman 89 teaser for the first time, when the Batmobile machine gunned down the wall and came racing through!! WOW was that AWSOME.
I to am in the minority, I really don't like the Nolan Batman movies. Yes there are some parts in Batman begins that are coolm manily when Bruce and Lucious are going through the process of building the bat suit.
that being said, as a whole I am disappointed in how the suit came out, how Batman growls, and the basic look of the villians.

I know I am one of the few that can't wait for the Nolan-free reboot

I remember that too...and my utter disappointment walking out of the that Theater thinking what a missed opportunity. I HATE Tim Burton for stomping on my favorite character and my dreams of what could have been.

You didn't like Burton's Batman but Millions of kids did and Keaton is Batman to a generation of Kids who are now adults....

Eh? but Bruce is buffed in the comics? The negative reaction against Keaton was Okay he can act but He was not Buffed to play the part....

The way i looked at it was if i knew Bruce and someone said that he was Batman I would have said no effin way.....for me that was the illusion unassuming man becomes larger than life crimefighter.

Bale actually was too big and had to slim down a bit.....but it all goes to waste cause he has the Rubber suit on and by the way everyone looks like Keaton with the Rubber suit on ........so much for getting away from that 89 suit which IMO is the best (except for the neck) of all the suits......

You might not be able to compare an 8 minute movie to a two hour flick but those 8 minutes showcased what could be done, and those were
the most actioned packed 8 minutes i ever saw of the comic book dark version of Batman.....

Not being buffed was the least of his worries.

How about a puny little dude with arms the size of a Barbie doll instead...

That's why he wasn't all that as the Joker either...lol.

I like Batman 89 more for the experience back in the day than as a stand-alone Batman film.

Batman Begins & Dark Knight >>>>>> Burton's Bat flicks.
