^ Have to say the same about Batman 66's Penguin--Burgess Meredith.
Absolutely perfect casting IMO & I was mesmerized as a kid by the film version, where he was running the show (& that submarine).
I've not been thrilled with any screen adaptation of Batman, but I do think, having rewatched the Burton films recently after a long hiatus, that they hold up surprisingly well. The Nolan films are just as flawed as the earlier ones, only in a different way.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

Yup! Burgess IS the ONLY Penguin just as Julie Newmar is the ONLY Catwoman. Even though their performances were on a "campy" TV show they are still today the best performances of those characters that all others are judged against. That's saying something.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

"The Batman vs Dracula" funny I had forgotten all about this one it would certainly be at the lower end of my scale. That was the direct to video/tv movie for the WB "THE BATMAN" cartoon which was on in the mid 2000's after BAS was off the air.
if you like Batman the Animated series you have to see Mask of the Phantasm it's the only animated one which was a theatrical release and it is excellent. and it's like 5.00 at walmart I think in a double set with Sub Zero
Thank you Werewolf! Which of these three team ups is your fave?Comment

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Comment

1. The Dark Knight
2. Batman Begins
3. Batman (1966)
I think the reason I rate Nolan's films so high is because I am of the opinion that comic books and films are two different forms of media: what works in one doesn't automatically mean it will work in the other. When I go to a movie based on a comic book, I want to see a great movie, not a comic book that's been turned into a movie.
Granted, Nolan's movies are not strict interpretations of the comic books, more of his adaptation of the the source material. But I feel Nolan's movies overall stay true to the spirit of the Batman comics and are faithful to the most important aspects of the characters. And their excellent films with great performances. Rarely do I feel compelled to see a movie a second time in the theatures, let alone in the same weekend, but that's what I did with the Dark Knight.
Batman 1966 is a fun movie and truer to the Batman comics of the 1960's than most fan boys would care to admit.
I admit that I have nostalgia for the first two Burton Batman movies, they were a big deal for me at the time, but I simply can't sit through them anymore.Comment
