Batman's fate in Final Crisis #6--MAJOR SPOILERS

^ I haven't read it yet but it sounds like a f'ed up mess....par for the course with Grant Morrison in general and this book in particular. I'd be happy about the return of Aquaman if I didn't think they'd f' that up too some where down the road... -
*Spoilers ahead!*
To be honest with you, I got the book (only becaused I'd ordered the series and won't stick my guy for them, or otherwise I'd have dropped it)...and I think that's what happened, but I really can't be sure as it was a garbled mess.
As for what's come out of this, well, I'm not sure of that either. Maybe Hawkman died & got a reboot? Looks like classic Aquaman was brought back to life somehow, just showed up in a panel no explanation...Kamandi's world was resurrected and so were the Kirby New Gods & Captain Carrot & Friends!
And it seems that now the entire universe knows there are Multiverse worlds, but what that means to the average joe I dunno. I personally know that Australia exists, doesn't mean I can get there anytime I want or that I ever will...the prospects do seem unlikely!
Of course, none of this was explained, it just sort of happened and then on to the next scene. And really, DC will just do whatever they want in the regular titles, regardless of how this played out, so it's relatively meaningless.
In fact, I'd say this is just forgotten within a year or so, if not completely contradicted within a matter of weeks by somebody along the line.Leave a comment:

So to those unfortunate souls who parted with their money for FC #7, was there some "gotcha" moment about Batman's death? Did I hear right that he was back in time as a caveman with Anthro?

this whole story line from RIP to final Crisis has been one big confusing mess. The story line makes no sense. How did batman end up going up against Darseid when the last time we saw him he was blowing up with a helicopter. Morrison should retire and Didio should be fired.
by the way, I agree, that was not batman in the batsuit Clark was carrying at the end.Leave a comment:

>That may be his whole angle on this, but I don't find his method entertaining at all,
Yeah. It's kinda like making your point that violence is bad by beating people with a hammer. Or that some people are crooks by robbing someone. Or that electricity is bad by whizzing on an electric fence....
Seriously; everyone spends WAY too much time wallowing in the crapulence of the old, tired and shallow. Writers AND fans.

>Long explanation short – there’s a wide open backdoor to Bruce Wayne’s “death” that Morrison is even hinting isn't final in the same issue where Batman “dies.”
....and when people are thirsty they drink something. And when people are tired, they sleep. And the sun will rise tomorrow....
So.... not only do we all realize that NOBODY really dies in a superhero comic, but now they're trying to play that up as a hook? Er....
Seriously guys, you might consider giving Shonen Jump a try. You'll get used to the eyes and reading backwards. Really.

That may be his whole angle on this, but I don't find his method entertaining at all, and that's what I read comics for. If it was more well done and coordinated, maybe. But not like this.

It also shows that "writing for the trade paperback" isn't necessarily a good thing....Leave a comment:

Interesting article on why this story didn't make the mainstream media like Superman's and Captain America's deaths did. Says a lot for the incoherent plotting and editorial mess DC is in these days:

Edited to add this: Jett's take on all this from Batman-On-Film: Right on brother.

Agreed...DC One Million was a bizzarre story that meandered all over the place, and I don't recall if anything major came out of it except for the Robot Hourman who tanked and went away.
It seems like Morrison has these grand ideas that only work in his head...and the rest of the DC creative teams just don't (or won't) go along enough to make it coherant. His JLA started out great, but I thought the big battle thing at the end was disappointing. Same with Seven Soldiers.
Meh- I say everybody go back to their own corners for awhile so we can sort out the chaff from the wheat.Leave a comment:

Morrison's best when he's playing in his own corner of the DCU or Vertigo...like "Animal Man" and "Doom Patrol"...or in small contained doses like "Arkham Asylum". But when he takes on the entire DCU that's when things hit a snag. And although I did enjoy his relaunch of "JLA", I didn't think his DC One Million concept (which spun out of JLA) really clicked like it was supposed to. Lately I think he's been more miss than hit...Leave a comment:

... I don't remember Morrison always being so Bad,.. I am sure I have read alot of stuff from him that I liked in the Past...., I Know I liked recent stories like The Rise Of Ras Al Ghoul Arc,.. I am sure he wrote the Batman section atleast... I also did enjoy Batman, up to RIP...
Maybe He's Frank Miller's Room Mate now.Leave a comment:

^^^ yeah, I don't get the guy dressed up as a Bat dying and being resurrected in a SF universe like DC being out of character or whatever.Leave a comment:

>things that happen of a cosmic nature elsewhere (i.e. "Final Crisis") should not stick with the character as part of his comic book DNA when he returns (eventually) to his own title.
>having him actually die and be resurrected (which you know he will be) violates the character as presented in his own series,
That's the kind of thing I was discussing in another thread: if it happened, how is it out of character? Or more to my question, why is it so grating for the readers?
>I doubt there'll be a reboot....
Oh, there will be. Sooner or later. Sales are dipping.
>Darkseid has often resurrected those "killed" by his Omega beams,
Don't the Omega beams not kill people, but remove them from reality? (Or something like that. I"m explaining it very poorly.)
