The Pike head sculpt was done by James Brady - twice!
The first one he sent us was too big.Comment

The Salt Vampire sculpt was done by Andy Covalt - who some of you
met at Mego Meet last month.
I would have liked Brady to sculpt the Salt Vampire, but given his
schedule, Pike was all he could get done.Comment

No offense to Brady... But I actually prefer the Salt Vampire to the Pike. The Pike looks like it was indeed done by a talented sculptor, but it doesn't fit the "realism" of the other Trek heads; The Pike head looks more like something that would fit in the World's Greatest Superheroes line. By no means a bad sculpt, just not in the same flavor as the rest of the Trek guys.
My other 2 problems with the Pike head (which I will get into more detail on in the Pike review) are the size and the skin tone. I am surprised to hear the first head was rejected for being too big, because the production one is still quite large. And why was the decision made to go with painted flesh instead of molding the head in flesh toned plastic?
I honestly don't mean to come off as a whiner. I am absolutely elated to own these- especially the Salt Vampire (which ROCKS). The Pike is good too... the head just knocks him down a peg or two...

The Salt Vampire, is an ok figure, I think it fits right in with The classic Mego line. Pike on the other hand, I HATE HIM!!! The body is ok, the outfit, decent, Why are the hands so red? reminds me of the ECME Scotty head, I hated that as well., Also the face paint sucks, makes himn look ackward and not fit in, looks to much like a custome figur done by any customizer. ECME and Diamond should have stuck with the way the heads were made in tha past. Cause this one Misses the mark by a Million Miles.
P.S. Why does Pike not have a Tricorder? Was he meant to have one? or was the pic in the back with him wearing one just a promo pic? This is not such a big deal, but I (We) wiould like to know.Last edited by MEMEGO; Jul 7, '11, 11:15 AM.Comment
