Sad news that the DC retro line is cancelled. I'm hoping we'll see that one last wave, but I'm not holding my breath.
It's a shame for all the hard work Paul and Joe put into this, but what it all boils down to IMO is that Mattel killed this line themselves. Poor bodies for the first waves, the price was a couple of bucks too high, no commercials, hardly any acessories, bad looking cards (I still think the faded retro look was a terrible idea), no real distribution (TRU exclusive and even there they were hard to find), an entire line dedicated to GL (poor character choice and exclusives at that), too much time between waves ... it was inevitable this line would fail. And it had so much potential tho. If Mattel would've listened to Paul and Joe a bit more this line could've lasted for many years

So it is at least possible that Mattel's words that there would be more in 2011 and that the line is canceled might not be contradictory. Its at least possible that they mean after the ones in the pipeline. I mean, I know we shouldn't get our hopes up, but we just don't really know at this point. Didn't they agree to produce at least a certain number of characters at the launch with no promises after that?
My posts were needlessly deleted ...

        at least a small run.

In my opinion, it's human nature to make guesses about why something
happened. I have my own theories based on my experience working in
large corporations, but I will not say anything until I verify some suspicions.
Do you think they will be rolled out at Comic Con if Mattel decides to produce these figures?

IMO, that's one of the best two possibilities. The other is inflation and returns. If they were barely seeing a profit, odds are it was going to disappear over the next year. BUT - DC/WB is making a huge move with the relaunch and TDKR plus Man of Steel in '12. If they want everything to be uniform, then Retro Action, like JLU, didn't fit in the marketing as it was a recall to an earlier period.

Six unreleased figures, eh? Well, there's still two more quarters/six months until the year is done. Maybe we'll luck out and get those six figures yet, either at Toys R Us or on MattyCollector. Plus, hey, Kyle Rayner is next on deck in July.

Just curious, when does the Mattel/DC license end? I notice that the Justice League Unlimited line wrapped up this year, as did Brave and the Bold, now Retro Heroes. Is 2011 it for the license at Mattel?

No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

I really hope they do complete these as I really really want a re-Mego Dr. Fate and Bizarro.

It was stated by Joe and Paul. Not a guess. It would have been interesting to see their take on Robin and Supergirl, at least for me.

There were 7 figures mentioned, 6 were actually at the prototype stage:

Robin, Joker, Supergirl, Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Spectre, plus Bizarro was on the drawing board(I may have Hawkman and Bizarro mixed up)

When I said in a different post that Mattel was "saving good characters" so the line could go on for years these are the figures I was talking about not getting. Other than JLU and DCUC the shelf life of a Mattel DC brand seems to be about 3 years.

You have Hawkman and Bizarro mixed up, and as far as that goes, Hawkman wasn't official.
