Let's hope that these last 6 figures that Doc has put together will be done. At least if we get that we can lay this chapter of MEGO history to rest.

I just can't believe that even one new figure a month on Mattycollector.com wouldn't be possible. The bodies are done. All it takes is a new head, a new fabric pattern and new package art. You'd think Mattel could handle this. The kind-of-boring RADCSH Green Lantern wave seems to have sold well enough on the site.Comment

If they manage to put out another wave of 4, then by my calculations DC will have put out at least 25 DC Characters (assuming the GL Series are completed). Not a bad run, Doc, considering that Mego only put slightly more total Superheroes in a longer span of time, and not all of them were DC, so on that front, Doc and Mattel will have surpassed the Mego DC line in terms of numbers. Not what we might have hoped for recently, but beyond out wildest dreams just a couple three years ago.
Bravo Doc. Mission Accomplished. Now go see if Marty has any friends over at Hasbro and / or Marvel and get cracking!!!

A pretty good roster although I don't know that I'd necessarily need a Spectre before a Red Tornado (another often-forgotten JLA'er) or Batgirl. Still, this proposed final line-up would redeem the line for me just by virtue of the fact that Robin, Joker, and Supergirl would be in it. The finshed collection would then be much more rounded. I sure hope it happens. When exactly would we know?Comment

I would think any announcement of figures would be at the San Diego Comic Con next month.Expectation is the death of discovery.Comment

I agree. All should be revealed by then. I bet you the RC Batman and Matty exclusive Lantern's end up finding the highest aftermarket value in the coming years. The Green Arrow exclusive is already a high priced figure to get. Not that any of this matters, but for those wanting to complete the series, I wouldn't wait around. Buy them while their at good prices! I also believe if the last wave is produced, those will be sale outs and will become highly sought after as well.Comment

Sad news that the DC retro line is cancelled. I'm hoping we'll see that one last wave, but I'm not holding my breath.
It's a shame for all the hard work Paul and Joe put into this, but what it all boils down to IMO is that Mattel killed this line themselves. Poor bodies for the first waves, the price was a couple of bucks too high, no commercials, hardly any acessories, bad looking cards (I still think the faded retro look was a terrible idea), no real distribution (TRU exclusive and even there they were hard to find), an entire line dedicated to GL (poor character choice and exclusives at that), too much time between waves ... it was inevitable this line would fail. And it had so much potential tho. If Mattel would've listened to Paul and Joe a bit more this line could've lasted for many years
I am not near as knowledgeable nor as passionate about some of the characters as many of you folks are. Heck, I don't even know who some of them are.
I am just a basic (vanilla) type of collector and would have been happy with just the full line of the more common (familiar to me) Batman/Superman types of figures. Robin, Joker, Batgirl, etc. I also don't open them so I do not have a valid opinion on the quality issues but I did see and understand some of the early problems from reading about everyone's experiences with them. I have enjoyed the line and will be sad to see them go. I have had to buy them online because our local TRU, which is a huge store, only carried 2 of the waves and they still have Sinestros on the shelf. Most of the other figures must have sold quickly and/or were stocked at pretty low levels as I never did find much there. But it was still worth it to me to buy them online and I even bought some from Museum members.

6 figures I would really hope we can get before they are no more would be; Robin, Firestorm, Brainiac, Cyborg, BatGirl, SuperGirl, Joker.Comment

Amen Scott. Now we can get back on the topic that was getting quite good. I wonder if Paul and Joe will be setting up a display at the upcoming Comic Con? Of course Mattel may not want to promote the final wave since they announced cancellation. This should be interesting to watch.Comment

If the last wave is produced and in small numbers then they will be the most collectable. I would still have to open them up if I ever get my stinking paws on any of themComment

I agree. I will buy doubles of all of them. Of course, I'm close to doing that with the entire series. Some awfully good deals out there, so I'm buying extras to keep sealed.Comment
