Almost Went into a State of Shock!!

Had no IDEA Mattel/EMCE launched this Retro-Action line... Until the other day when I took my 6 year-old son to TRU. I told him he could get a toy so he picked out a Zsu Zsu Pet. He has been wanting one for months.

So we're walking through what I refer to as "the predictable action figure ailes" when I stop dead in my tracks to see Wave 1 of the Retro figures just hanging there... My first reaction was "No... no way that's real..." I almost had a freaking heart attack. I could not believe it, it was like a dream.

For a couple of years now, my little boy has had a blast playing with a few of my old beat-up condition Megos. And some extra FC figs. He always wanted "his own." So I turned to him and said, "would you rather have one of these instead?" and he said "Yes!" he picked out a Superman.

I cannot tell you enough how many Mego-related dreams I have had over the years. I'm 44 and I swear I have had a Mego dream every few months for YEARS. Most of them involve finding an old warehouse with cases of them. Or i would see them relaunched at retail in current-day and I could buy them for like $2.99 each. Needless to say I always fill a couple of carts when I have this dream. lol.

Now I get to live the Mego dream once again! Closest thing I'm ever going to come to it! And my son loves them! Makes me happy! I just wish they were priced a little more fairly, say $9.99 ea. $20 seems a bit extreme...

Welcome to the forums. That's awesome you were able to share your enjoyment of Megos with your son.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

"State of shock" also describes how we feel whenever we get the cost of making these things in China.

Anyway, it's always great to hear that someone's child is driving the sale and enjoying the product. Best of luck and thanx for a wonderful anecdote on a day where we really coulda used one :-)

You know what the most awesome part of this story is?

A retro Superman beat out a Zsu Zsu Pet!
Now THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!

You're welcome. But more importantly I want to say thank YOU to yourself and everyone else responsible for turning this Mego-inspired dream into a reality. When I saw them for the first time, IT REALLY AND TRULY WAS LIKE SEEING A MIRAGE!

Glad you liked it. I have not seen Wave 2 anywhere at brick-n-mortar... I hope to stop by a TRU Express in Mentor (Ohio) soon since I read that the Express stores had Wave 2. Can anyone confirm?

It's always nice to see another megofan family member find their way home. Welcome to the museum.

                      Welcome Astronut:

Are you aware of the recent Mego related releases that are not Superheroes out there like the Star Trek and Planet Of The Apes repops, Night of The Living Dead, Twilight Zone, Dark Shadows and more.

There are also the Classic TV Toy figures which have been out for a while from Happy Days, Space:1999, The Brady Bunch, The Munsters, I Love Lucy and Married With Children.

It seems to be that the TRU Express stores have gotten them before the regular TRU stores. Basically you should have better luck finding them there.

                            True.

As for me, I was a member here but have not been around the scene for several years. I went to log in and forgot all my info. I did not seem to be on record so I created a new account. I remember you guys were always very cool, nice to see you again

Thanks LynnTXP, MEGOMAN... and Mego73. Yes I am aware of those other lines (Brady Bunch etc) however I always had the most weakness for WGS.

It's great to see Wonder Woman and Flash coming... and Martian Manhunter... jesus, it is just amazing these are being produced. As for more DC-oriented figures, I'd love to see Firestorm, Red Tornado, Black Lightning and Dr. Fate done Mego style this time around. I'm also hoping they do a Doomsday and/or Darkseid figure with a new bulky body type at one point.

Anyone know if there's even a remote chance Mattel might *possibly* connect with Marvel to do their line? If this Retro-Action line is successful and continues on with Marvel characters hanging along with DC characters I think I would probably s#!% myself right there in the store. haha
