See, I can disagree with the price and still like something. Its 2 different things.
Our best hope for a price drop is to get the figures into Targe or Walmart. This would increase the production run, hopefully bringing in economies of scale, as well as bring Walmart's own price dictation policies into bear. Though, as discussed in other threads, if that caused corners to be cut in manufacturing to achieve, could also result in worse quality figures being sold.

Most of us think that is pretty expensive for smaller figures too, but comparatively to the Retro Line, isn't it about proportional value for a figure that is three to four times the size of the 3 3/4" figure?

You're willing to pay 8 bucks for a 3 3/4" figure for your son. Why not $20 for a figure that is that much larger?

My wits and common sense tell me that every EMCE Diamond release hasn't scraped below $15-16, I don't know why you'd think a premium licensed figure produced by a multi national corporation in similiar numbers should somehow be less.

^There is no way these will be listed at that price when 6.5" DCUC figs are $15 and JLU Animateds are $9. (All somewhat over-priced, admittedly, and in wider distribution than Retro-Action.)

I think we're paying for a licensed niche collectible with new tooling--the concern IMO is the quality, not the price.

Comparably, DC Direct figs are about $17-$20, exclusive, smaller, less poseable, & fragile.

If you think Dark Shadows is a license even in the same universe as the DC comics characters, you have a shock coming. Trust me, I have a contract with mine and Paul Levitz's signature sitting in the desk next to me.

And in terms of companies, Spectre and Bif Bang Pow don't have much by the way of overhead. Bif Bang Pow's offices are whatever is provided in the two principles day jobs.

That's a really good example right there. At least I think so.

With the Walmart AT Joes all the tooling was already done too. That helped defray a huge amount of the cost.

And to be honest - even at those low prices - it's not my kids that would be pining for them - they'd still be for my personal collection. Mattel isn't stupid - they know this - & they're gonna make us pay for what we want.
