^^I might head over before work tomorrow and pick up Aquaman if he's still there. The day I went which was a few weeks back they only had Batman. Two Face I got at the Fan Expo.
The last big Mego dream I had involved me at some "junk" store finding a whole box of loose Megos. Then my brother tells me to look up a little and right above the box is a whole bunch on actual pegs in unopened cards. At that point I go hog wild and start grabbing as many as I can. Sadly that is when I realize its just a dream and it shifts to something else far less exciting.Comment

First of all welcome to the fabulous Mego Museum Astronut. We are glad that you have "landed" here again and do hope that you will enjoy your stay here.
Secondly, I have my own opinion on the pricing of the Retro's as well. I do happen to believe that they are a bit over priced for today's market. Some would agree and some will no doubt disagree. That is all fine. Everyone has there own opinion.
I do not want to sound negative here at all. However, If it were not for the CEO making over $12 million a year I may tend to see the price point as being fair a bit differently.
As it is now though I cannot help but think that a good percentage of that profit is going towards his lucrative salary. And that is just one salary. Not to pick on just the CEO I only use him for an example There are indeed other less high ranking employees getting paid a lot of money as well.
I have said/typed this once before and I will type it again. There has been no CEO of any toy company in the 70's that I am aware of that even made close to that kind of money. Yes, I know that times were a bit different then, but $12 million a year different now? Come on! So with that being said/typed I rest my case.Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. Too much space. Need more toys!

After I sort of calmed down and fully registered this in my brain, I took out my phone and snapped a pic.
It was surreal. My eyes practically welled up with tears of freaking joy.Last edited by Astronut; Sep 23, '10, 8:47 AM.Comment

I should also point out that after this whole thing registered in my brain that I saw the pricepoint and my urge to buy 5 figures (four for myself plus one for my son) sparked out and I was relegated to buying only 2. One for me and one for my son. I'm sorry but the manufacturing reps can try to justify it all they want -- the reality is these are priced much too high.Comment

I love this line and am grateful that Doc and Joe at EMCE got Mattel to release these. I'm sure we'd all like to see the price a little lower, after all, Hasbro put out a 12" line of Indy figures with detailed clothing and even a talking Indy with a rubber moving face for the same price, but on the other hand the Mattel figures are a much better deal than a $9.00 3.25 inch plastic Star Wars figure, either way I'm happy to be able to get these and continue to support the line.Comment

How much do you pay for your son's non retro action figures at TRU Astronut?
In this economy, I think we are all concerned about the price point of retro figures, but have come to accept it because of our love for the Mego style. The small boutique companies making the Retro figures hang out here and are often surprisingly candid about things, and I honestly don't feel like we are getting gouged and they are hardly showing up at Mego Meet in their fancy cars and limos, drinking their beers using diamond encrusted mugs.
Lucky you don't live in Canada! The Canadian Dollar is very close to par with the US, yet it seems everthing gets an extra couple of bucks slapped on the price tags. Prior to the retro action hitting TRU, you'd expect to pay about thirty bucks at a comic shop (for Trek's, Apes as well)Comment

Sorry, I meant how much do you pay for your son's NON Retro (Mego) figures.
I'm assuming that you share your love of Superheroes with him previous to this and have purchased DC Universe, Infinite Heroes, Marvel Legends, Iron Man, Spiderman etc in more popular 3 3/4" and 6" formats? How much do those cost you compared to the larger Retro style?Comment

Seriously though...when's the last time you saw a licensed figure of this size and detail go for anything under a MRSP of $19.99? To even think they would be priced between $9.99-$12.99 is pretty much crazy talk. I'd love it - you'd love it but really...is it even fathomable? And to be honest - even at those low prices - it's not my kids that would be pining for them - they'd still be for my personal collection. Mattel isn't stupid - they know this - & they're gonna make us pay for what we want.President - Magician's AllianceComment
