In Kenner's defense, the Challenge of the Super Friends season was 6 years old by then. Sure, it was seen in syndication, and was a logical villains list to pull from, but once they went whole-hog into the Fourth World, I doubt it really came to mind much. The nostalgia and reverence for that season hadn't kicked in just yet.Leave a comment:

Legion of Doom Released.jpg
What amazed me in the 80's Kenner Super Powers was how little they released the actual members. Toybiz did release a Riddler but
McFarlane toys is slowly releasing the other members in action figure form:
Lex Luthor (Purple/Green out) (Kenner Power Suit)
Captain Cold
Scarecrow
Bizarro
Toyman
Solomon Grundy
Gorilla Grodd
Cheetah
Giganta
Riddler (Toybiz)
Black Manta (McFarlane)
Brainiac (Kenner & McFarlane)
Sinestro (McFarlane)Leave a comment:

I managed to find Guy and Manta in the wild today at a Target. They only had 1 of each and these were the only Super Powers figs they had (no vehicles in sight either). This was the first time I checked a Target for these.

There are only two Walmarts in the area still carrying Super Powers, and with the Bug and Brainiac ship on clearance, I don't know how much longer they are going to hold out. I know some folks are now finding the line in Target, but I haven't seen them in the two stores closest to me. So yes, it looks like online or at GameStop may be the only way to get this line, if it hopefully continues.Leave a comment:

Wal-Mart is resetting there shelves for the fall toys and two of the stores I have been to do not have any Super Powers on the shelves.
So I suggest that if your going to keep getting this line go to Amazon or GameStop.Leave a comment:

Yeah, supposedly Todd had said during SDCC that the vehicles would go into production even if the crowdfunding wasnt successful. But yeah, some serious goal post moving was done in order to achieve a 'victory'.
Then again, people probably aren't paying too much attention to this right now with his wildly successful kickstarter going on. What was the numbers...like 100k in a couple of minutes, 1 million within 24 hours?Leave a comment:

So, funny enough, I just checked the Super Powers crowd funding and it has been fully funded with 9 days to go. It's at 106% funded.
Either people seeing the items in person at SDCC pushed it over the top, or some e-tailers like BBTS helped push it over the finish line (so far).
I am glad and hope it holds as the vehicles are really nice. But it's feels odd. And the second highest selling reward is the $100 one with Todd McFarlane signature Art Card. I never understood the desire for Todd's signature with properties that has nothing to do with him.
On another note, Black Manta arrived from Amazon the other day, helping finish with this last wave. And Invisible Jets are on clearance at my Walmart for $9.00.

I am happy to be able to add them to my collection. If the figures come carded I will leave them like I did my gold figures.Leave a comment:

It took a while to find a Bug initially but I've found every vehicle at retail, and most have gone to clearance as well. I can't say the same for the figures. There's at least a third of the figures I have never seen at retailers, and sometimes I see people post a wave has gone to clearance at their store before I ever see it at my local Walmarts (it happened with Deathstroke & Nightwing) and it then goes out at full price for like a week there before getting marked down to clearance. I am not sure if that is a McFarlane or a Walmart issue, but it can't help the profitability of the line as a whole no matter who is responsible unless the line is profitable enough via online sales only and the physical retail doesn't matter (which is doubtful but possible).

Yeah, there's talk that the numbers were inflated to make it look like it funded, but it was going to happen anyway.
The Bug is down to $16 around here, but someone posted on FB it was at $9 in their area.Leave a comment:

If we don't see anything at NYCC, the line may be done for. There's the rumored next wave and the JSA 3-pack. I hope they at least get made.
I think the line could succeed if McFarlane took note of fan reaction and sales to particular figures. The instant markdowns at Walmart don't look great either, though. The Bug and Brainiac Ship aren't really old and are now marked down basically everywhere. If the line continues, I wouldn't be surprised if the vehicles are phased out, which is a shame, because I like them more than the figures in many cases.
