I watched Our Gang (the Little Rascals) all the time when I was a kid. I loved the show and all the stuff they made. So, I think I would have played with them had I known they existed. Especially if I got the orange crate cart.

the Love boat - I watched that show, it had "tv stars" on the boat as guests -- so I could see me playing with them but only if I had "guests" for the boat.

But, the Waltons, sorry no interest. I think the show was too grown up for me and I just didn't get it.

I think all of the lines were valid in their own way, although I would not have been caught dead with captain and tennille when I was a kid. However, according to Mark Grace she was a tried and true slump-buster to many Cubs back in the 1980s.

But too bad Mego didn't sacrifice one of its lines for the Star Wars franchise back in the day. Who knows what toy row would look like today had Mego not passed

I'm going to go a whole other route and say the 12" lines. I know that I am in the minority, but when I was a kid, I thought that they were too big and I remember being disappointed in the whole look for the Superman line when they came out. As a kid I just didn't understand why they wouldn't just add more Superman related figures to the 8" line. (I should also add that I never watched the Waltons and that line wasn't even on my radar)

It's funny 'cos the Waltons really are fantastic figures. Lots of detail, good likenesses, I've never seen any of the buildings up close but they look pretty good too.

Angry cavemen. Seriously. ANGRY CAVEMEN! I think back in the 70's EVERYBODY fought cavemen at some point. And gorillas, but Mego didn't make a decent gorilla.

In the grand scheme of things, generic cavemen are really no different than army men or plastic monsters. They make perfect sense in terms of play.

Waltons? They were trying for the girls and trying to get every line they could in the 8" format out there, it made some sort of sense. Mego never could get the girls out of 1/6th scale and eventually just gave in and made their own.

The Waltons got the star treatment from Mego with a truck, the farmhouse and the country store, all of which were very well done. Of course I appreciate them more now as an adult collector than I ever would have a kid wanting figures to play with. I'm sure I would have walked right past them in the toy ilse.

I remember Pinnochio's toy store that kept all boxed Mego figures together, gated with a little wire fence on a metal shelf. It looked like a pen almost.

You'd flip through them as if they were records, I vividly recall doing it once and thinking:

Myx....No
Spider-Man....got it
Catwoman...secretly want it
Joker.....need it
Galahad.....neat
Friar Tuck.....who wants him?
Grandma Walton....why?

I did answer this question through the eyes of 8-yr-old me. Howe much I wanted to, or more correctly, did not want to play with a line decided my answer. The love boat did not stir my imagiunation much, but the Waltons garnered absolutely nothing in terms of play.

As an adult, I realize how well done the line is and one day I will most likely buy some. However, even now, nostalgia is a big driver in determining what I collect and there's just no love for the people from Waltons mountain. Now if I was a customizer...

Why would Mego think that anyone would want to buy Dallas Figures.
Someone must of got the rights to that one very cheap.
