As a Graphic Designer, and looking at it from that standpoint, I like the design, but I would definitely consider, perhaps, a different, more MEGO-ey font for the text and I would make the MEGO up at the top plural. Also, Having MEGO at the top AND at the bottom seems a little---superfluous. If this is a "meet and greet," perhaps the bottom line would read better as "Meet and Greet 2013"? Just a couple of suggestions. If you wouldn't mind, can I download the artwork and play with it along with you?

sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Not to step on your toes, doc, but maybe something like this...

While it looks great with all the colors added, dr_cyclops has been setting this up as a one color logo in order to keep the cost down. With screen printing, the set up for multiple colors can get very expensive. With that many colors in the design it would easily add about $15 extra on each shirt, on top of the regular price. As it is, we are hoping to get these for no more (ballpark guess) $10-$15 (possibly less) per shirt just to keep everyone's cost down. Adding tons of colors would more than double the cost of the printing.
Looking for:
--Lion Rock "Mr Rock's" shoes/ boots (these may also be the same as the lion rock monster line boots)

Thank you for your considerate critique.
As for the font, I went with the comic style font because it reminds me of neon lettering. Wanted the logo to look like a 'Man-Cave' bar sign.
The name: "Mego-Eat", was already established at the beginning of this project.
The reason no year is added , is to prevent the need to alter the logo design for future use.
Considered pluralizing Mego, decided against it.
Beautiful work on the colors.
As CapnMike said, the choice to keep it one color is to keep cost down all around. From T-shirts, to advertising.
Sorry about the addition of colors; I kinda came in on the tail-end and the designer in me got the better of me. I can see the justification for the lack of a year, as well, for the purposes of genericism(?) Also, didn't know the actual event was being called the "Mego-Eat"! ::laffs:: Hopefully you won't have any folks there in the mood to chow on plastic, vinyl and fabric!!!! The only other thing I would recommend, if you want to go for more of a "neon" lettering feel would be to use an actual font that is designed like neon letters (and there are a whole mess of 'em!). Thanks and again, for any toes I might've stepped on, many, many apologies....

What I admire about dr cyclops is how generous he's been putting it out there for comments and critiques and I can assure you emeraldknight, your not stepping on any toes, your just being as excited as we are about this design project by drcyclops! And if CapnMike can keep t-shirt costs below $20 per shirt, we should have no problem selling out the minimum 24 (put me down for two). Of course we can always do special edition color flyers along with the black and white, to be decided later after design logo is sent to me finished. And if t-shirt needs a deposit for set-up i can shoot some money to capnmike too, will send him a pm. And I promise to pm all who had interest in this quasi-informal gathering and I will touch base with all today.....Oops I just realized I'm rambling off on some stuff that is not part of this thread...

I love your colors. It wasn't hard to come in at the end since, this project had wings on it from the get go. Feb. 24th is not far away, and we're burning advertising time every day.
My reply was in no means to close you out. Just want the critics to know that I consider every critique. I really like the critiques. Even if I choose not to go those directions, I don't mind communicating why.
As a graphic designer, I've been in the position where everyone wants something different "tried". In some cases, these ideas are worth trying. In others, the ideas are so time consuming and 'off-concept', I want to laugh. 'Why not change the Mego Spidey to a Barbie?' Barbie is made by Mattel and this is a Mego event. 'You could at least try it.' What is worse, is when others agree, not because they like the idea, but they don't want to disrespect their friend/co-worker. So they disrespect the artist instead.
'Art is magic. Therefore, no work is real work is involved. At the next meeting, we'll vote out the Barbie concept, and Stacey will feel like she had her day.' lol
If and when the artist says "no" to an idea, most people blame it on the "temperamental artist". All the more saddening, when the artist is donating his time and effort.
In a paid commission, people and groups, tend to avoid irrelevant concepts to control costs. "Barbie version will add another $100 to the final cost." Group decision: Stacey can have her day some other time, when it's not so expensive.

Damn! Tell Stacy I was rooting for her Barbie design.

OK. I'll admit, I did a little more playing around with the image and I think it could even look pretty cool is grayscale (which means you're still using only ONE color, but your getting a wide range of tones and dimension). Also played with some classic "neon" lettering that I have floating around in my system (I only have about 30,000 fonts!). Take a looksee!
