How was your 2011 : Collecting Wise?

Downsizing will be my focus for 2012. I have too much stuff. Comics and Toys gotta go.

2011 was a slow year. Three Mego items I got were Capt America, Capt Marvel and the Spider-Car. The car was a fixer upper. I decided to customize it up a little since it was pretty mangled and added my own idea's to make it cool.

I got some Retro's of course. A few new Transformers like Wheeljack and Perceptor. DCUC were among my biggest goals but only if I could get them at good prices and they seem to be getting cheaper. (go to Winners, I found a bunch there the other day).

That's pretty much it for me. 2012 will be slow as well I think.

Good year for me, though I didn't get a ton. I was able to finally find an Aqualad head to complete my last WGSH. Other than that, there were a lot of nice customs and expansions to other non Mego collections.

As tough as my personal life was in 2011, as great was my collecting life.
Got four grails out of my ten.
Finally scored a Mego Mugato and Mego Frankenstein.
Some great new additions with "ReMego" Monsters, Dr. Who,...

I'm finally at the point where I can go on Ebay and say "nothing here for me, I've got what I need"...

If in 2012 I can score a Batgirl and Galahad, and maybe a CIPSA Ape or two, I can say that my Mego collection is complete. That would be cool for me...

I started out 2011 thinking I was almost done and then a few things happened. I got Benjamin's amazing book and I registered here at the Museum. Had a few great deals early on and began to acquire Star Trek figures (thanks scifiguy94) and Apes (thanks Timb). I never had these as a kid so it was really nice. Also picked up 3 Wizard of Oz figures, too.

Thought I was in good shape until I saw the amazing Brian L and his costumes. I have a cool Sandman and a Vulture and Scorpion in the works!

Still working on my real love, though, which is World's Greatest Superhero. Got a super sweet Shazam from Rob C! I still need about 10 things to be complete (yeah, right...)

Thanks to everyone I've dealt with here at the Museum. This was one of the true highlights of the year and I hope to meet more of you in 2012!

I had a wonderful year--members have generously allowed me to make payments, and I completed my minty, loose Mad Monsters & Legends sets.

I am working towards a grail item and am looking forward to 2012--Oz & Flash Gordon!

And maybe I'll find some SI heads, too...

It was a great first-half: I was able to pick up some very nice original WGSH pieces here on the board and enjoyed hunting down every last Retro Action Superhero...even a bunch of doubles.

Things have slowed waaaay down since the baby came in May but I'm looking forward to 2012 being very fun collecting-wise.

Too few moments with my toy buds this year, though I still hang out with MegoGeek, met up with Surfsup again in England in February, and finally met up with another long time member (but now unfortunately ex-member). Been too long since I've hung out with Palitoy. Missed Megomeet again. Hope to plan something big in 2012.

As for collecting, I really expanded my Tomland and vintage Kenner Star Wars collections. Mego-wise, I pared down the Foreign Mego part of my collection substantially, but was finally able to score a very rare 1979 US carded Human Torch. All in all a good year collecting.

Sold most of the Spidey collection , but expanded my other interests. Pretty solid over all.

After starting over fresh..I got all the EMCE Treks, plus playset..I also got from BENDY a set of EMCE monsters...made a couple of customs....No real Mego's...but it's been a fun year....

My first thought was that 2011 was a crappy year for my collection because I've been having so much trouble with my business and it's really put a hurt on my finances.

However, I quickly remembered several great pieces that I added because of amazing deals (I finally got one of the 3 3/4" Remco Universal Monsters that I've wanted since they came out!) I was also able to pick up a couple of pieces in Lots where I was able to sell the remainder of the lot for enough to keep the pieces that I wanted without really spending much on them.

Also, two of my friends got me gifts that blew my mind! Both were figures that I never thought I'd have.

With all that in mind, I think 2011 was actually a pretty good year.

My goal for 2012 is to clear out the stuff that I never wanted that I've accumulated through buying Lots.

Toy wise it's been a better than average year. Boxed Falcon and Boxed "Electric Company" Spidey joined my Packaged Mego collection. The retro-action FINALLY let me put together my childhood toy dream of mego style Legion of Doom along with a newly acquired Mego T2 Riddler.
After a six year hiatus, I re-entered the world Vintage Star Wars MOC and upgraded many pieces I was not satisfied with as well as add new characters.
As has been the case for the past two years I've been able to expand my comic collection to a degree I never would have thought possible. Heavy focus on 70's and early 80's. So many great stories topped off my with tons of classic ads like Hostess and Heroes Worlds.

I really went a bit crazy early-on this year, and slowed to a trickle here at the end, although my biggest ticket item was the Hot Toys Superman, which was just recently released. It was a great year, though, nabbing a lot of things I wanted and never thought I'd get a chance at. I expect to have a much slower year in 2012, with the main items being Hot Toys' Keaton Batman and the BBP SMDM figures. This year, the focus was on reacquiring things I lost over time; next year, I expect to be a bit choosier, since I've filled a lot on my list. I'll be looking closely at Sideshow's DC Comics 1/6 offerings.
