Bats and robin were one of the first figures to be made, using a standard body , to keep production simple and to pervent misshapps,even thought it happen anyway.They did not change it because it was still selling , even thought that did do it on the 12 inch figure
Penguin was a child safety concern .
The hulk and thing being 3times the volume would have been even BULKYER at the 8 inch or 81/2 inch requiring larger blister and or box.
and others had to do with cost and using the same molds, to simplfied the production.

I didn't do research to show you a pic but there were some artists (or perhaps that was his look at the time) that drew his mask with a nose shape on it as well as showed his eyes through the mask (usually just blank slits) so those are probably the drawings that Mego used when designing him.

Iron Man had a nose added to his helmet in the comics at the time. Catwoman was appearing in comics in her Mego outfit at the time. I believe Johnny was wearing his red FF uniform in the comics too, so if we got a Johnny at the time, it probably wouldn't have been in a classic blue FF suit.

Why Mego never upgraded Batman and Robin, not sure.

Why they never made a Teen Titans size Robin? 8" Robin was still selling like hotcakes, so why make a smaller one? It makes sense to us, but not much to them. Robin hadn't been a member on the Filmation toons either, so that may have been a strike against him as well, although I doubt it mattered much.

Captain America was just a bad design. No exuse for the lack of red hands or white areas on his arms. And that weird shadow (that would have been more appropriate on Batman) and buggy eyes is just a bad design flaw.

Not sure why Mxy was fat. The better question is...why Mxy? If you don't want to make Lex (who was just in prison grays when the Super Foes debuted) why not just make Bizarro? Seems like frugal Mego would have jumped on chance to just modify the Superman headsculpt, reuse his uniform, and reverse some chest stickers.

Why no Lex

Lex Luthor in 1974 was wearing prison grays - not the most interesting
costume for a toy. It was not until '75 or '76 that DC gave him the
purple and green outfit that was used in Challenge of the Super Friends.

Didn't Mxy show up a few times in the Filmation stuff? I think that might explain why he was in there and not Bizarro. Don't think he showed up in cartoons until Challenge. If they couldn't do Lex though,why not Brainiac? Makes more sense than Mxy,who I have no idea why he's fat.

I got my Iron Man right about the time that John Romita Jr. and Bob Layton began their legendary run on the book....and they did indeed draw Iron Man's eyes, show his teeth through the mouth slot, and show a bit of a nose.

swallow no, putting in someone eye or cramming in ones nose yes.
The shape the umbrella in triangle. which makes it easy to insert, but difficult to remove.
A sword swallower once swllowed a umbrella it open up in his throat trapping it in his larnyx. he suffocated.
AJ had a bayonet, and it was removed.
the star trek items were very small and the pirates swords Farily thin , belts are small and flexiable these items can pass the alimentary canal with ease.

Beyond just asking why there was no Flash, is the fact that they made a Kid Flash! There is a bit of a logic gap that is a bit more puzzling than just a conspicuous absence like Dr Doom or Green Lantern!

I'm sure it's been asked before and might even be somewhere in the vast ethers of the Museum but has there ever been any kind of paraphenalia found relating to stuff Mego planned but never made it to production? Not talking about prototypes really; moreso documents, sketches. Although prototypes are always cool but those surface seldomly and I'm sure the vast majority didn't survive or were sent to Hong Kong not to mention the company went out of business so I'm sure a ton of stuff got trashed rather than stored somewhere.
