Oh, yeah. Rey is a clone of Luke, with an x chromosome. Jedi genetic trick!

Snoke is really Luke. Finn is a clone of Lando. Lea is slowly turning into Jabba, and will travel back in time to commit suicide by being strangled to death by her younger self. Vader's ghost takes over C-3P0, which was his plan while he was building him as a child. Sorry to ruin it for everybody.

    Precisely.

    If she's Luke's... That's cool.
    If she's Leia's.... That's cool.
    If she's neither... That's cool.

It's kinda nice that no matter how they go with her, it's fresh territory where we don't know the outcome. People can still be disappointed if she doesn't turn out to be who they wanted, but I'm just happy to enjoy the fresh ride on the road to Episode VIII and beyond.

I listened to a Two True Freaks roundtable podcast on TFA, and one of the guys suggested Rey may just be the surviving student from Luke's new Jedi academy. Maybe the one Ren didn't slaughter. That would account for him knowing her, and the "block" that maybe Luke put on her to forget.

This isn't a bad theory at all, and would make the battle between Ren and Rey that much more personal. She could also be a Kenobi or Skywalker as well, I suppose.

Remember when we were all so confident Benedict Cumberbatch would be in TFA?

I think Supreme leader Snoke is really . . . .KHAN! JJ Abrams does it again!

I have been wondering on that myself. Disney had said that rebels would offer clues to the new trilogy. I have not seen any but maybe if I rewatched them all I would. I also note that the next wave of the 6" black series includes Ahsoka and the jedi guy....names escapes me...Kanan?
I think it would be really, really awesome if they had an elderly Ahsoka show up in the trilogy. it would really tie all the series together. we don't know how long her species lives so she could be spry still, even if she is around 75

It is so great to have Star Wars healthy and vibrant again. Ripe for positive discussion and speculation, rather than a wasting of time and words, trying to change peoples opinions.

Watching it again, I noticed that when Kylo interrogates Rey, he sees that she "dreams" of an ocean with an island. This is clearly the island where she finds Luke. So when people wonder how she picks up the Force so quickly and with no training... she had been to the Jedi temple and trained there before (and for some reason, those memories were lost or buried?). Han and Leia did not know where the island was. And of course, Luke goes off to find it after Ben turns bad guy. So I am thinking Rey is not the daughter of any of them.

Which leads me to two crazy theories:

    1. Who else do we know that could be a living, reproducing Jedi during this period of time? Ezra Bridger from SW:Rebels! Could Rey be Ezra and Sabine's kid? And could the Knights of Ren be somehow related to Sabine "Silent W" Ren? I think it would be super awesome if Rebels was tied in so closely with the new movie universe... but I doubt Disney would do it. It also begs the question of where Rey would have picked up that accent, which neither of her parents have.

    2. But thinking of the accent... who does speak with a British accent in the movies? The Empire. I haven't worked it out yet, but wouldn't it be wild if she was somehow the "clone/child/grand child/or some such" of the Emperor?

I doubt either are really the answer. But for a movie that is getting panned a bit as "some uninspired retread", I will say that I am way more interested in learning about Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren than I ever was invested in any of the two dimensional characters of the prequels.
I am hoping for a tie-in to Rebels

That barrier business makes sense, and you can read that into the scene. That will answer a lot of the questions folks have as to why she IS so powerful, and so able to defeat Ren. Personally, I have no problem with it either way.

Ren mentioning the ocean and the island definitely points toward where she found Luke. Now, that could just be her future he saw, or it could be her past. The Force is weird that way.

    NOVEL SPOILERS.

#21: Kylo Ren knows who Rey is. After failing to call Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber to his hand, Ren turns to Rey — who is now holding the blue lightsaber — and he declares, “It IS you,” and then the fight begins.

#22: He also cracked open something in Rey’s mind. One of the advantages of a book is internal narration. When Ren attempts to retrieve the map from Rey’s brain he senses something weird within her mind. Not resistance, but a barrier. Probing at it is what causes Rey to suddenly find herself — with no provocation – inside Ren’s mind. Now this is just speculation, but it certainly sounds like someone had walled off Rey’s Force sensitivity and Kylo Ren accidentally broke down the wall.

I guess we have no choice: we will all have to keep going to TFA until Star Wars is number one again, and teach Jim Cameron the lesson he so deserves.
And only buy stuff from the Chinese if they can produce a TFA movie ticket stub!
