there will not be a remake while GL lives. we have more chance of him making a sequel trilogy than actually remaking the originals.
now when he kicks off and his kids inherit the earth, then I am sure they will sell the rights and someone will remake it, probably horribly, and then we will all then be talking about how great GL was and his grand vision. LOL

If this clip is real.........the first "no" seems wrong but the second "nooooo" alone isn't that bad

I'm wondering if Lucas will go back to Empire and throw a "Nooooo!" in there when Luke's doing that dive. I hope not.

I haven't HEARD of any further changes old Georgy-boy has made to the first three yet, but I'm sure they're probably lurking on the discs. And, when he inevitably makes yet ANOTHER version of the Blu-Ray discs (which he will, you know he will), I'm sure he'll make even more changes. He is with STAR WARS the way Michael Jackson was with plastic surgery---he'll alter them soooo much, they'll become freakish parodies of themselves....
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Supposedly he's not actually replacing the Ewoks with CGI, but he is making them blink for the Blu Rays. (They attempted to make the Ewok mask eyes articulated with a blinking merchanism back when they were first making the movie.)

The audio is supposedly genuine, although that clip was actually assembled by a fan.

Yes indeed, the effect of Vader's skull being briefly visible through the helmet when the Emperor's lightning hits him has always been in the movie.

He already did add Luke screaming as he does his Cloud City fall for the 1997 SE, but then removed it for the DVD release.

Lucas's company ILM did the VFX for Star Trek VI. Surely they're allowed to reuse some of their own cool ideas?

David Lynch was also approached to direct ROTJ. That would have been... interesting!

Lucas must surely hold the record for the most variations of a movie series in the history of film. Is anyone keeping count? How many different versions are there of each?

Lucas has to tinker to "justify" a new version to market to the drones who have to own every version. All i've wanted for over 30 years is an edit of Star Wars with the extended Tatootine scenes but when It finally comes out I would have to buy a new format.
I dropped over a hundred on the then "Definitive Collection" laserdiscs, 3 years later Laserdisc was dead and I have refused to buy them again ever since

I finally gave in to dvd when they stopped releasing VHS but I am not switch to blue ray unit dvd is dead just because odds are something else will come out first

if and when he released a "completed" extended cut with the original effects scenes maybe I'll buy another one but not until

I don't see what the big deal is. I just watched the scene this morning, and personally thought it added a bit of depth to his actions.

I thought the other changes were pretty cool as well...the Ewoks now blink!
Adding a little life to their eyes adds a ton of personality.

Of course, I also love the remastered Star Trek TOS.

"Blinking" Ewoks? Oh Lord... I just want to see one lift up it's leg and take a leak against one of those big red woods. How's that for realism?

                          >The original trilogy remade
                          OR
The last three parts (five, six, and seven)made

I can see both, but with the middle three (and maybe the FIRST three) being redone first.... for the sake of “continuity.” Within the next decade it should be relatively easy for big companies to just crank films out.... and they will.

                          >there will not be a remake while GL lives.

I dunno.... it raises the question: at what point have you made so many changes to the original that it’s NOW a remake?

Y’know.... it’s George’s property, and he can do what he wants with it. (The fans really have no stake in things; no matter what they think. You buy it or you don’t. Think of it like voting if it makes ya feel better.) ) ‘Course I don’t have to like it, and I definitely don’t have to keep buying the set. (I was lucky enough to get a disk set someone converted off of laserdisk for me.) I think if you HAVE to get the new set ‘cos the Ewoks blink now and R2 hides behind a BIGGER rock, life’s punished you enough.

The only thing that bugs me about all the redos is that WAY back in the day, when colourization was first a thing George was one of the guys leading the charge AGAINST it ‘cos he didn’t think old movies should be monkeyed with.

Still; a proper set of the original versions of the original films would be nice.... but I’m NOT buying the series AGAIN unless George throws in a cleaned up copy of the Holiday Special.

....two freakin’ Ewok movies and the guy won’t ‘fess up to the Holiday Special....

                          Don C.

Here's a silly ROTJ question..: "Couldn't Lucas simply CGI in a BETTER SCRIPT..????"

Oh, and for all you 'SW Holiday Special' lovers, I think your 'sacred love' will remain untainted and un-violated in all it's original glory..

Oh----if only!!! I think ROTJ would've been an okay movie if Lucas hadn't directed it himself (and he had not put in the freakin' Ewoks, or, barring their absence, at least made them something more fantastical than animated teddy bears). I would've loved to have seen what someone like Spielberg would've done with ROTJ.....

I wish someone would CGI George a new chin line. He's beginning to look like a rooster. Pretty soon he can step in as a Star Wars creature himself.
