okay correct me if Im wrong about this but this is my take George has the right to Tinker with a New Hope and the Stupid Prequals, but messing with Empire and Jedi is kinda a slap on the face to Irvin Kirshner and Richard Marquand.Lucas didnt direct them I know he helped write an produce Empire and Jedi and was all over those sets those days but those were not his vision those were the vision Irvin and Richard, who did their best not to redo a New Hope ,Thats why I think Empire and Jedi .well especially Empire Is sill considered the best of all

AMEN BROTHA! That's why I'm wondering if the Directors Guild approves of him going in and making changes UNLESS he's gotten approval from those directors. It IS their work.

I think he worked it so that he owns the SW films outright from the beginning. After the first film became so big I am sure that the directors of Empire and Jedi were contractually just hired guns.

I know Spielberg was originally slated to do Jedi but couldn't because Lucas had been kicked out of the Guild for not showing credits at the start of his films. Because of that he couldn't use Spielberg. Oh what we lost...

yup Tom ultimately it is A directors work and Cinematographer what you see on the screen. Producers and writers can voice their opinon all they want but it comes down how shots are done each day on the set it is the Director
and also I dont think it dosent help that Richard Marquand and Irvin Kirshner have passed on theirs nobody to tell George he's gone off the deep end!

Is this even real? I've seen others on other sites note how the sound is off and seems to be ripped from ROS. If it is a fake, I hope the faker is revealed and sued by mondo-bucks Lucasfilm.

Worst CGI Lucas ever did was ripping off Star Trek 6's Praxis explosion.

It was such a blatant rip-off everybody in the whole world knew it when they seen it on the Special Edition

I believe the deal Lucas made with 20th century was that he would outright own any sequels. he does not own the rights to A New Hope but he does own all the rest. based on that, he can pretty much do whatever he pleases with the movies. as many have said, if you don't like it, don't buy it. I for one loved the original trilogy, all 3. and I like the prequel trilogy for what it is, just not as much as the original. I am all for making the movies even better, but as we have seen in the past, some of the changes he makes are based on his own moral compass.....Greedo shoots first being the worst....and they are not good changes

not trying to change the subject to much here but what do you guys think will most likely happen:
                          The original trilogy remade
                          OR
The last three parts (five, six, and seven)made

Personally i think we can expect a remake of new hope in the next ten years...

And so much of it has to do with the fact Lucas did not have final say in everything at that point. There was plenty of people who injected their own ideas that gave it the flavor it did. Lucas by himself, surrounded by "yes" men, does not touch the original series. And every time he messes with those films, he demonstrates why he should remain in marketing and stay far away from the editing room. I believe in time this will all be corrected...after Lucas is gone. He's not looking too healthy these days. He's still trying to squeeze every drop of blood out of this license before he plops over. Pretty sad that he can't leave well enough alone.

As others have mentioned if he could just do blu-ray transfers of the original first three films, then he could do whatever and I wouldn’t care. But to do it the way he has done it is so dysfunctional. The guy is more of a control freak than Stan Lee or Gene Roddenberry!
