    Lucas Screws Up Star Wars----AGAIN....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGaSx...layer_embedded

Oooooooohhhhhhkay. I just watched this over on AICN and had to post it here, too.

I agree with what Nordling said about this particular moment in ROTJ. IT was one of the only moments in the movie that really made me go "Wow---this is a really cool moment."

Thanks for Lucas's penchant for f***ing with the movies, that moment no longer exists.

I guess he figured he had to have the last few moments of ROTJ mirror, to an extent, the last few minutes of ROTS.

    I think he thought wrong.

I was thinking about buying SW on Blu-Ray when it comes out, but if it's filled with *******izations of the original films like this moment, maybe I'll pass, break out my old VCR and just go back and watch the original 3 as they were meant to be seen, before Georgy boy got all heavy handed with them....

    What do you guys think...?
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

OMIGOD... I completely agree. He just ruined a completely genuine moment in what amounts to a considerably flawed installment. Now it's all flawed.

that wasn't so bad considering. The way you were talking i was thinking he had all the dead jedi show up as ghosts with yoda, obi wan and hayden singing "give peace a chance"

I picked up the dvd sets that had the untouched edits as the 'bonus' material disc. Tossed the patched up ones and have enjoyed the bonus discs immensely. I don't see any need to upgrade.

You guys already know Lucas likes to dicker with HIS toys. Just watch the versions you like and ignore these new releases.
          Hey! Check out the pictures.

You're probably right on that count, Mikey. He's like an artist who keeps going back and looking at the same paintings and finding he's not satisfied, so he keeps tweaking them until they're virtually unrecognizable as what they started out as. I'm not saying that any of the first three will become unrecognizable as STAR WARS products, but if Lucas continues to make changes and updates to the films to suit HIS tastes, he will not ONLY alienate his original fanbase, he'll also make the films seem like something completely different to the coming generations of filmwatchers. STAR WARS (the original) is considered a classic by many and, as long as there's an untouched print of that film around, the movie's place in history is guaranteed. If Lucas somehow manages to f**k up the seed source, the whole vine will wither and die in the future....

Darth Vader screaming “Nooooooo!!!” at the end of Revenge of the Sith is one of the most laughable, worst moments in movie history. I saw it here in NYC at the Ziegfeld the first week it opened and the moment that happened, the amount of laughs, groans and general grunts made at that specific moment was bubble bursting: It just highlighted what a piece of crap all of the prequels were. And now this.

I swear I am growing to love that “Yub nub” Ewok song from the original Return of the Jedi more and more.

Consciously or unconsciously, Lucas is turning the entire Star Wars franchise strictly for kids.

I'm guessing he's doing this because he thinks it will make him more money.

um, I'm pretty sure the SW franchise was always directed towards kids.
maybe the merchandising has gotten heavier, but they were always an homage to the serial reels of the 50s and 60s, which were kid flix.

Wow. This is as bad as having Luke scream like a little girl in the ESB re-do.

He may be ruining them, but just admit that you'll be eating space cakes while waiting in the four hour line to see these on the big screen again.

Pretty much spot on assessment. The original Star Wars & The Empire Strikes Back were both products of the hard sci-fi world of the 1970s where even so-called “kids films” could touch on deep topics. Then the teddy bear Ewoks show up in Return of the Jedi… And then the prequels.

Star Wars was successful because it appealed to kids and adults. Lots of 1970s films were like this. Look at The Bad News Bears, the kids don’t win, drink beer at the end and tell the other team to shove their trophy up their arse. And it was a kids film! Kids were far less shielded from reality in the films of the pre-1980s. Then the 1980s come along and kids have to be protected, coddled and niche marketed to. Nonsense.

I think they were originally geared toward adults who knew what the serials were ... In other words, they were kids movies made for adults ... In their own way they were one of the first wink-wink nerd movies out there.

                              Today, that's changed

Today they are mostly marketed towards kids
