I just wish Lucas would have watched the original trilogy at least once before he "wrote" the prequel.Leave a comment:

The only way the Prequils will ever fit seamlessly is for the OT to be re doneLeave a comment:

I think a lot depends how old you are when you seen it.
You were about 14-ish when you seen Phantom in the theatre, D ?
That's almost the same age I was when I seen "Star Wars" for the first time in the theatre.
It's only natural the younger people like the prequals more than us old fogiesLeave a comment:

For Phantom Menace everybody always points out Jar Jar was the worst thing ever...
It totally overshadows other lousy stuff like the 12 hour long pod race.
I swear, I almost walked out of the theatre during th pod race because it made me sooo mad how long it was ......
In comparison, that pod race reminds me of a Family Guy style prank like having Stewie say mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom for 10 straight minutes.Leave a comment:

I actually appreciate every movie for what they are. Sure to me the first 35 minutes or so of empire is the greatest movies scenes ever but i don't hate on menace. The story had to be told Anakin had to start somewhere. Back to Empire. I remember being 9 and waiting for the release of Empire. Heck my parents wanted to see it almost as bad as me and my brother. Then when it finally started. Man only a few memories are as good as being a carefree kid.Leave a comment:

Anakin is easily the biggest weakness and flaw of the prequels. You could over look a lot of the plot holes if the character worked. There is no hero's tragic fall from grace. Anakin is such an unheroic, unlikable jerk that you would be actually shocked if he didn't turn to the darkside.Leave a comment:

and life itself would lose a lot of intrigue and dimension.Leave a comment:

No, because it's just bad retconning. The badly retconned parts in the prequels is like Lucas trying to digitally hammer a square peg into a round hole. No matter what, it just doesn't fit. The prequels have no effect on my view or enjoyment of the classic trilogy.Leave a comment:

The book "Star Wars" was a story from "the adventures of Luke Skywalker". It wasn't supposed to be about Anakin...Leave a comment:

Am I the only one that finds it creepy that in a New Hope (aka Star Wars) Luke Skywalker is given his father's lightsaber and he's all in awe and stuff, and uses it constantly... and it was used by his father to kill a bunch of little kids?
Or how about in Empire when Vader notices the lightsaber, do you think he says to himself, hey! That was mine. I used it to kill A BUNCH of a kids! Memories... of the way we were....
I saw someone mentioned Anakin was whiny, a jerk, then a baby killer.
Well, Luke starts off whiny, then after Obi Wan dies, he avoids the whole jerk-baby killer cycle.
Maybe Ben was right... maybe HE WAS to blame for Vader!!!Leave a comment:

I wasn't the huge Star Wars fan many of you guys were, so the whole "raped childhood" thing doesn't really affect me. But overall, the prequel movies are...blah. The humanity of the original trilogy is gone. Maybe it's the charm factor that Hamil, Fisher and especially Ford had that was missing. Certainly McGregor's Obi Wan is the best part of this series. He is great. The rest...not so much. I hate to be a Lucas basher, but I think a lot of it is his direction. Portman is a great actress but is truly abysmal in these flicks. Chrstiansen wasn't nearly as bad in Jumper.
Anakin is totally unlikable for sure. Too cute in the first movie, two whiny in the next two. He comes across as an unstable putz from the get go, so who cares when he gets chopped up and crispy. He had it coming.
Poor little Jake Lloyd certainly wasn't the best child actor working in Hollywood at the time either. And then there's Jar-Jar. And the "God-zira!!!"-like stereotypical trade federation guys.
They are watchable fantasy films, but they seem...manufactured. Like Lucas did it to make bank only. And boy did he ever.
