I have to respectfully disagree with that.

The audience is supposed to like Anakin. But he is done so poorly (acting/direction/dialogue) you just don't. Unlike in Clone Wars where you actually do like the character. Same as Jar Jar was supposed to be funny and likable. But the character is so annoying people don't. Now, I do like the Ewoks in Jedi. I love those little things. They're cute little teddy bears or tiny Wookies. Jar Jar is just an annoying imbecile.

Back to the jaded thing that keeps getting brought up. It really annoys me. It's used as some kind of weapon to try and silence anyone who has issues with any of the flaws of the prequels.

The problems I do have with the prequels is actually because I am not jaded.

If I was jaded I would have no problem Anakin is a jerk. If I was jaded I would have no problem that Sith was way too dark in tone for the age group Lucas aimed the prequels at. Anakin killing all the little kids should have NEVER made it into the movie. It was not needed (you already hated the character) and in VERY poor taste considering how heavily Darth Vader is marketed to children. Action figures, bobble heads, plush toys, bed sheets, t-shirts, video games, Legos, Galactic Heroes, etc.

Again, I don't hate the prequels. I'm in the middle on them. I think they are okay. They do have legitimate flaws and could have been/should have been a lot better.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

He should have made more sequels while the original actors were young enough to replay their roles instead of the prequels!

Whatever happened to the originally proposed Episodes 7-9 that Lucas later said he never intended to make when he originally did?

While I don't hate the prequels, they aren't very much fun either. At least the Clone Wars Tv show injected fun back into the Star Wars universe.

I haven't seen anything past Return of the Jedi, just couldn't grasp the change.Patton Oswald does a great skit about meeting with George Lucas and the prequal movies, its really hardcore humor.Worth a listen.

I completely agree with you Lonnie.

I was just talking to my bro the other day about the prequels...he and I came to the same conclusion...The original trilogy you can watch over and over again. Loving them even more with every viewing. I think I must have seen each of the original 3 about 30 - 40 times each...maybe more. I remember cutting out of school to go see Jedi the day it was released....2nd showing of the day with my bro. The love for the originals will never be matched by the prequels. I think I've seen the prequels maybe 2 times each...that's it. Maybe someday I will watch them a little more intently...but I think they suffer from a lot of what has already been described...unlikeable characters and a lot of plot flaws. I remember an interview with Lucas back when the originals came out...how he said that the original story was supposed to be fleshed out in 9 parts. He said it had all been written....now we know it was never meant for 9 parts...IMHO he blew the whole thing in the Star Wars - Jedi movies. He never had anything written beyond or previous to these 3 movies. That's why the prequels suffer in my opinion.

All that being said...isn't there supposed to be a Star Wars TV series already??

Yeah, in interviews Lucas says he only ever had broad outlines in mind for the events covered by the prequels era, not a detailed story. He only started writing a detailed treatment for the "beginning" around the mid 90s or thereabouts.
And he says he never had anything in mind for anything after Jedi.

But yeah, in early interviews around the time of the release of the original Star Wars, Lucas definitely did claim that the whole thing was intended to cover three trilogies, nine episodes in total.

Yes, it will be set between Episodes III and IV, and will focus on ancilliary characters, not the main characters from the movies.
(Rumours persist however that Boba Fett may feature to some extent).

yeah but the show was supposed to be on the fall schedule for this year wasn't it? I have heard more talk of the comedy series being co created with Robot Chicken than I have about the live action series

Well, they were supposedly progressing well with script writing, concept design and even preliminary casting, but then in May of this year Lucas said that the series was pretty much "on hold" until they could figure out a way to do it properly on the reduced budget of a TV show.

the live action show was supposed to be just normal citizens of the Empire and how all these other events affect them....my fear is it will be rather dull like many episodes(but not all) of the Young Indy series.
the comedy show is more tongue in cheek I think, poking fun ala family guy and robot chicken. Lucas probably figures these shows are already poking fun anyway so he might as well get in on it and profit from it
