    >they don't evne list him as part of The Island

Yeah.... the only real mentions of his involvement are from the "Clonus" bits.

I think if they had cast someone that could actually act to play Anakin it would have made the movies better. Both Jake Llyod and Haden Christenson(spelling?) were horrible actors that took so much more away from the movie then they gave.

Put a good actor in those roles, and I think a lot of people would have enjoyed them more.

If it wasn't star wars then we wouldn't compare it to the original trilogy but it is and since the OT is in the same timeline the plot of the OT is corrupted by the Prequels which considering they were made when practically everyone had access to home video tech and would there fore have fresh memories of the originals was unforgivable. never mind that they Special editions had been in theaters 2 years before Phantom menace
Agreed. Totally Agreed. Too much CGI, weak performances, terrible acting. And way too much hype.

And yes, I thought 'Jedi' was bad as well.

This is the exact kind of Lucas apologist, the movies can't have flaws blame the viewer mindset, that made me wary of starting this thread in the first place.

The original trilogy wasn't perfect but were still legitimately better movies. First and foremost because the cast worked. It had a strong ensemble cast and you actually like the heroes and you believe their relationships. The only likable character in the prequel trilogy was Obi Wan. I gave Ewan Mcgregor props many times. He did a heck of a job. For whatever reason Portman and Christensen didn't.

Luke falling to the darkside would have been tragic because you actually like the character. Anakin is such an unheroic jerk that you never like him and there is no tragedy when he turns. It's not because I am jaded because I like him just fine in Clone Wars.

You believed Han and Leia could fall for each other because they had chemistry and their dialogue worked for the characters. You never get that with Anakin and Padme.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I really think Lucas got lucky with the first Star Wars. He was struggling with the edit and brought on someone late in the game to slap it into shape. Empire was rewritten and handled by a very capable director who told Lucas he was going to make it work. Jedi has alot more of Lucas in it, as well as Kenner.

It appears to me in every documentary that shows what happens at the ranch now that Lucas is surrounded by yes men. He seems to need someone to tell him when his ideas suck.

The easiest way to understand why the prequels stink is to try to describe any of the characters without using their appearance. I can do it with all of the original trilogy main characters. I can't describe anyone from the prequels.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

Nobody in the new movies had unique personalities .....

                Take the classic movies ....
Any person in the world can do an impression of Luke, Leia, Han, Obi and even Lando.

                Now,
Try to do an impression of Anuskin, queen armadillo, etc ......
                It's impossible

They're all just flat characters with no life

^^ that's true Mike, with the exception of Obi Wan and maybe Palpatine and Yoda as they were already established characters who had 5-6 mopvies of development. Padme and Anakin were undeveloped and the dialog they were given was stagnant and boring.
that being said, I still like the prequels, just not as much as I love the original trilogy.
what was said about the viewer having a jaded view is somewhat true. we grew up on the originals and have a love for them stemming from 30 + years of watchig and rewatching. the prequels could really never have met the hype and expectation. they would have likely been better under someone elses direction though. Lucas should have stayed as write and executive producer and let someone else do the script and directing.
p.s. I thought Jedi was a great movie, even with Ewoks

Jedi is my second favorite SW movie after Star Wars.

Empire was "ok" but to be honest I thought it was kind of long and boring.

I say Star Wars was a big rip-off of Doctor Who anyway. I was watching some Dr. Who and thought "what a Star Wars rip-off!" and then realized it was from before Star Wars was made. After that I noticed so much he stole. I'm planning on making some neat Dr. Who/Star Wars amalgam figures...

The way I see it,The prequels will never ever mean the same to us as we were all kids watching the first movies and they blew us away now as adults we see the new films and view them as drivel.Partially because we had to wait 30 plus years for what we got.

On the other hand my son loves the prequels. He watched them when he was five the same age I was when I watched star wars.
That being said he also likes the originals loves them as well. But he never had to wait 30 years to view them either.

I don't mind the prequels but they are extremely flawed in regards to established cannon but what ever.Take them for what they are sci fi popcorn flicks and enjoy...
Meant for kids to enjoy and wonder about space and the stars.
Anymore reading into it than that and you take your movies way to seriously...LOL
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”

You were about 14-ish when you seen Phantom in the theatre, D ?

That's almost the same age I was when I seen "Star Wars" for the first time in the theatre.

It's only natural the younger people like the prequals more than us old fogies
I was 18, skipped a day of HS for that but I really liked it, could be cause I'm a huge Neeson fan and because I loved Watto

Anakin seems like the kind of person you can't trust whether he's good or bad at a particular moment.
                                He's a backstabber.

He was only "good" for a short time ... He was bad Luke's entire lifetime

In the real world Obi and Yoda wouldn't forgive him so quickly
true but just think of all the lives he just saved by killing the emperor
