Re-watched the Star Wars prequels.

I think if the prequels were never made Lucas would have lost a ton of newer fans.
Not lost actually, just never got.

Yea, they suck --- but they did bring in a ton of money, so i'm sure he don't care what anyone thinks of them.

He could have filmed himself taking a dump and called it Star Wars episode 1 and he still would have made money.

You are right. EVERY kid I teach or am related to LOVES the prequels and don't even watch the originals....

I don't want to get into why they are all garbage to me...but let's just start with George Lucas himself...he is indeed a great producer...but as a director (which he admits he doesn't like it much, that's why he's directed so few films)...he's pretty bad. And too bad...because he was pretty good directing THK 1138, American Graffiti, and the very first Star Wars (New Hope)...but they were all in the 70s...and clearly has lost his touch over the years.

George...keep producing...but don't you dare direct another movie ever again...

BTW...I really don't fault Hayden one bit. He was just a young struggling actor who jumped at the chance...yeah...pretty bad acting from him...but place the blame on Georgie himself...he chose him...and you know darn well none of his staff would dare to disagree...he's surrounded by yes men who laugh uncontrollably at all his bad jokes...lol.

The most frustrating and saddest part was Natalie Portman...she's a very good actress...yet Georgie Boy had the magic (or curse if you will) to amazingly convert her to one of the worst actresses ever on screen...Portman turned from a potential Oscar-winning actress...to a soulless mannequin...an amazing feat. Georgie Boy...you actually have to give him so major props for that...the dude is good at turning people really bad...lol.

I seem to remember when the Phantom Menace came out on video there was behind-the-scenes segment about casting the kid as Anakin. In the segment they showed the audition video for Jake Lloyd and another young man. The other actor was way better in the audition. I think in the end Lucas said he chose Lloyd because he looked more like he could grow up to be Luke's father.

Lucas did American Graffiti as a response to people saying THX1138 had no soul, was mechanical, and the characters had no emotional depth.

I think THX 1138 is a brilliant movie...it really depicts the environment of that underground society...yes...it feels soulless...because it's supposed to be that way...in that particular world order.

If it wasn't for Ewan McGregor, the prequels would have been very corny and childish. As long as you don't compare these to the originals, they are decent films. Kind of like comparing Mattel to Mego.
