Star Wars the final trilogy - Eps 7-9

The original Trilogy made Lucas one of the wealthiest men on the planet. It pretty much set him up for life and he never had to lift a finger in the Star Wars universe again if he didn't want to. Even before the plans for the new Trilogy cam about, the resurgence of Star Wars nostalgia pretty much granted him a license to print his own money once again (with wookies on them :p)

Given the physical and emotional toll it takes to undertake a project this huge, I don't think it's necessarily fair to dismiss Episodes 1-3 as a pure cash grab. There are far more easier ways to make money (particularly when you already have a great deal of money).

I don't think you will ever find anyone who invests that much blood, sweat, tears and their own money into making a movie ever intends to make a "bad" movie.

Keep in mind how much the adult critics savaged the original trilogy and look at the fact that there is a generation of kids out there who love the new Trilogy as much as we loved the original when we were their age.

I think history is going to be much kinder about these ones twenty years down the line when these kids are adults.

I'd rather let Elric stay in "book form", until the right man/woman comes along to bring him to the screen.
Why should everything be made into "a major motion picture", simply because it's there? I personally enjoy reading a book!
These days, everything has to be "pre-chewed", adding articial flavouring, and lots of pretty colours, just to get it ready for a mass audience. Forget the original concept of the book, just throw in some fistfights, kung fu aliens, and a ton of CGI, and the crowd will love it!

I will always admire Lucas for what he started, I just think his older movies (including THX, American Graffiti,...) were better than what he is doing now.
I just can't support his "technology addiction", just for the sake of it.

But what the heck, let them make an Elric movie, I'll see what happens, and if need be I can always write a devastating review afterwards.

PS: Roland Emmerich has started work on Asimov's Foundation.
The way Asimov was treated recently (I, Robot hardly resembled the book anymore), I shudder.....
