I remember hearing that it was supposed to be 12, and then 9. I even have an article somewhere that talks about what Lucas might do with the prequels and the sequels. I need to find it and reread it. It was written long before the prequels were official.

not being a huge SW fan I could go either way on this . . . . I will say that I have been drawn into the Clone Wars show. Pretty decent stuff . . . .

alot of the characters are in costume and head gear and with todays tech any character/actor could be made to look old or young enough anyways...

i think all this over used cgi ruined it too... like the new clone wars cartoon they keep plugging on my screen every night, i watched 1 ep, its crap, far to much going on for my eye to catch and far too violent for kids in my opinion... i still watch the old ewoks and droids cartoon, much better

its all done to sell clone trooper helmets and light sabers

i think it could possibly be done, if lucas dont want to take a large role in it he could employ the best to do it for him
the potential money earning will more than likely be the answer
        when.. who knows
where... in a galaxy far far away no doubt

          Toy Stalker,
I think you summed it up my freind.
I think they should leave star wars well enough alone.
I hated the 97 Special Editions, the CGI looked like crap along side the old school effects. I hate people that try and say well it was his original vision yada yada yada. No, it looked like crap. And that extended scene in Jabbas Palace with the band and dancers and all was some of the stupidest footage shot in the 90s. The orginal music was alot cooler, and they took out the original Ewok song !! ( anyone remember having the 45 of that back in the day, the local pop station played it all summer of 83!).
THE MOVIES WERE PERFECTLY FINE THE WAY THEY ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zoom foward to 1999 and Episode 1 - The Phantom Marketing Plan came out.
I really was afraid to admit I liked Star Wars that summer. Was it about a movie or toys and Taco Bell Pizza Hut Pepsi Lays hell what product didnt Have Jar Jar Yoda or Anakin on it that summer? I mean seriously that was out of hand bigtime. Then the hype over that crap *** PS1 game. I didnt bother to see the movie in theaters, I saw the next year on VHS. Again, CGI SUCKS!
IT SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS! Hello George, it SUCKS. You too Stephen. Thats why those movies on Sci Fi suck, the CGI. SOme of the actors in the Sci FI movies are a little better than the prequel actors tho.
Episode 2 Attack of the Bores, thats all I need to say there.
Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith, Ill give some credit here it was not that bad.
But to me it just seemed jumbled together, there was no bridging between the scenes, anybody see what I mean? It just felt randomly cobbled together. Like Lucas went, Okay we have show this ,her pregnant, show this fight, show this fight, Anakin kills the Padawans, Obi and Ani fight, Hide the twins, Vader is born. The End. Be and stop at burger king on the way home!
The first 3 movies really seemed like they were only there to promote stuff is what I am saying. Lucas couldnt have been hurting for money with all the stuff ILM has done. And the game division was doing quite well.
I havent bothered with that cartoon, as someone said above I dont need a trooper helmet or a plastic lightsaber or a freakin blaster that shoots silly string.
The live action show Ill give a whirl, but Im sure its going to be a CGI nitemare and probaly full of dumb new characters.
Anyway, Ill get off my soapbox.

I think Star Wars FANS themselves are partly to blame for the prequels.

EVERYBODY seemed to have made Bubba Flatt their new tin god thoughout the late 80's and 90's.
Lucas caved into this and wrote him and his Bubba Popp big parts in the prequels.

I miss the Star Wars fans of 1977 - 1985
They seemed different bunch back then.

They didn't take everything so serious.

Don't let Eric on That 70's Show fool you.
The writers messed up and made him a newer breed of fan which emerged in the late 80's.

Well yeah Kirk, I think it was the fans who kids in the 70s/80s that now had kids in 99 trying to get thier kids into it.
And you know Ive got alot of Star Wars crap in my house. I dont have any prequel stuff. But Ive got some toys, Ive got a ton of books and magazines. Ive always been big on books, magazines stuff like that.
I love the novels, most of those have been pretty cool.
And Im guilty of the Fett thing. I went nuts over that Fett Cartoon in the X-mas special. I got the mail in figure. I love fett now. So, Im guilty as charged there.

God forbid someone made a charismatic character and used the character
to support the story---I don't feel Boba felt forced in the
                prequel appearance----
Boba and Jango were the best part about ATTACK OF THE CLONES....I don't
think most people---even the people who hate AOTC---would disagree.

                  THANK YOU!
So that proves I wasn't imagining it all these years.
I swore up and down that I remember reading something way back at the beginning that said there were 12 parts planned and I think the article was like you said; talking about what they might be about. I remember trying to figure out what year part 12 would come out if it took 2-3 years between movies.
I would love to see that article to put this to rest.

Jango was cool in Clones, probaly the only non sleep inducing parts of the film. I dont think they were forced either, but I do recall hearing Geroge say they were there because of the popularity of the characters.

Wango and booba was one of the things I most hated about the prequels.

Lucas ruined it trying to force them into stories they didn't belong in.

booba was a minor character with no background and that's all.

Well I beg to differ on the Boba thing. I have a book , Ill have to dig it out to and see exactly what it says, and Im sure somelse here has the same book but its from 1980 and its called something like Empire Strikes Back Skecthbook or something to that effect.
The book is full of pre-production drawings of the film, and states that Fett was drawn in early 78 as the Hoth troopers. Lucas liked the drawing so much that he told them to turn him into a character. They were toying with the idea of the troopers being clones, and I believe that troopers being clones is mentioned in the original novelization when the Falcon gets in the death star and luke and han knock the troopers out, one of them comments on the fact they are clones. But anyhoo originaly they were going to touch on that in Empire with fett as the host of the clones. Again Lucas liked the character so much he was in the cartoon for the 78 X-mas special by Nelvana, and written into Empire, Ive read too that Fett originally had way more screen time in Empire with the clone host parts that were written out. So I wouldnt say he was a character with no background.
I am assuming with the ATC being about the clones, and them wanting to put Fett in there they resurrected some of the old Ideas changing it to Fetts dad instead.
                              trey
I believe some of this too may stem from the original Journal of the Whills book lucas was working on in the early 70s which became The Star Wars, shortened down to Star Wars. The clone army and all that.
On a funny note as a kid I always thought Obi Wan said "Your Father fought in the Cologne Wars" and wonderd how a Cologne war was fought!!!
