This one freaked me out a little as a kid. Just the deal with the victim seeing the off-camera Snowbeast, screaming and the scene suddenly going red - the guy trapped in the over-turned camper and the skier who almost goes over a cliff, stand out. Nothing violent was really shown, 1970's TV after all, but what was implied got under my skin.

I swung by big Lots today and spotted a new selection of $3.00 movies. I picked up several movies, including:
      Bubba Ho-Tep
The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane
      The Amityville Horror (1979)
I'd always heard "Bubba Ho-Tep" was good but had never seen it, so I couldn't pass it up at that price. I highly recommend this movie!

Bubba Ho Tep is a lot of fun, especially for $3.

Picked up all of the Universal Mummy Movies which have a charming "B" quality to them. They were a welcome comfort on my 5 hour flight home yesterday.

My local Wal-Mart is just putting out their Halloween movies. It looks like mostly recent slasher films, sadly. The only two movies I saw so far that I still need to pick up are "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and the original "Halloween".

I looked more closely this morning and saw I was right, it's mostly recent slasher crap, no classic horror at all. I did spot a few movies in the $5.00 bin as well. It looked like they had most of the "Friday the 13th" movies in the mix, plus a couple of Stephen King movies that I picked up: "The Dead Zone" and "Silver Bullet".

^^ Well, that stinks. Last year's assortment was bad too, with the exception of Alligator People.

I just noticed this morning that Wal-Mart has put up a big section of mostly classic sci-fi/fantasy flicks beside the Halloween movies. Here's a breakdown of everything:
Star Trek II, III, IV, and VI
                  20 Million Miles to Earth
                  The Alligator People
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (Daryl Hannah version)
                  Barbarella
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
                  Critters
Cult Classics Double Feature (The Spider/War of the Colossal Beast)
                  Cyber Bandits
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Day the World Ended (recent remake)
                  Dragonslayer
                  Dune
Earth Vs the Flying Saucers (colorized version)
                  Enemy Mine
                  Fire In the Sky
                  First Men In the Moon
                  Heavy Metal
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1950's version)
It Came From Beneath the Sea (colorized version)
                  Jason and the Argonauts
                  Ghosts of Mars
Johnny Mnemonic (save your money and buy it at Big Lots for $3)
                  Krull
                  The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra
                  The Mysterious Island
Planet of the Apes (1968 version)
                  Spacehunter
                  Starman
                  Stephen King's It
                  Teenage Caveman (recent remake)
                  The 13th Floor
                  The Time Machine (recent remake)
                  Tobor the Great
                  The Toxic Avenger
                  Videodrome
The War of the Worlds (1950's version)
I already have quite a few of these, but definitely plan to pick up a few on payday. I've been meaning to get "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" for awhile now, and at $7.00, I don't have any excuse to put it off anymore!

"Lost Skeleton.." is hilarious!! Anyone who's a fan of the 50s-60s B-movies will get a kick out of it. I heard that Larry Blamire, lead actor/ writer/director, is working on the sequel "The Lost Skeleton Returns Again!".

The last horror DVD I bought was "The Boogeyman". The thought of something in the closet waiting to get me is still high on my fear list. I can't sleep with an open closet. I know. I'm a wuss. Childhood fears die hard sometimes.

I taped "Son of Godzilla" and "Revenge of Frankenstein" last night. The kids loved "son" and I didn't mind the Hammer film, one of the better entries in their Frankenstein series.

Walgreens has some cheep-o movies in the Halloween aisle. I picked up the Bluebeard/House on Haunted Hill DVD. There are 3 other double features.
