I was looking at this and couldn’t make up my mind about it, if it was worth a rental.

I absolutely loved 1917... incredibly shot story. But I love a good war movie.

    Just watched Mad Max

Haven't seen it in over 30 years

Was surprised how much of the dialog I couldn't understand because of the thick accents.

It was like watching a foreign film with no subtitles.

Luckily most of the action spoke for itself

I'm relieved to hear that. I'm a devoted fan and was put off by reviews. But honestly, I've found something to like in every iteration of the classic cartoons.

    Furie (2019) 8/10
Pretty great Vietnamese action film about a mother going after her abducted daughter. I seriously enjoyed it and it's on NetFlix.

    The Raid: Redemption (2006) 8/10
Holy crap, how did I miss this? Amazing action from Thailand, it shares the same plot as Dredd but mainly amazing hand to hand action scenes, really unforgiving.

I watched Ad Astra yesterday. I knew virtually nothing about it, except that Brad Pitt was an astronaut trying to rescue his father (Tommy Lee Jones) trapped in deep space. An interesting movie... I think I liked it... but suffice to say, it was not the feel good Father's Day movie I thought it would be...

Watched Moon again last night with Sam Rockwell. I enjoyed it. My wife fell asleep and my boys were confused... it was Father’s Day, so I got to pick. :-)

I'm sure someone has said something about "Alita: Battle Angel," but I knew nothing about it and stumbled across it last night just looking for something science fiction. It's a manga-based cyberpunk origin story about a teenage girl, which to me sounds just awful. But it's not. It's well worth a couple of hours viewing. B+, which includes a bonus for offering something at least a little bit unique.

We just picked up Epix so we can watch the first part tonight. I'm sure at some point this place will be mentioned:

"There's this store where the creatures meet"

It's on Amazon Prime in Canada and it looks like it is in the US too, if you have that. And oh yeah, I've read Please Kill Me, great book! I'm fascinated by that whole scene, and Television is one of my favorite bands from that era.
