I'm sure there is all kinds of vitriol on social media, but I am on the ground here and local media and everyone I've spoken with about Durant leaving is pretty realistic about the whys. Hurt and surprised but certainly not angry enough to forget what KD has meant to us as fans and to the OKC community at large. Kevin Durant did a lot for this team and this town and the real fans, I mean the ones that actually follow the team not just buy the t-shirt, are sad to see him go. It is a little shocking to hear the discussion that a Championship was never going to happen in OKC because realistically, they had the Warriors down 3 games to 1. For people to say a Championship could NEVER happen with OKC is a little puzzling. They've been a fantastic team since year two in OKC. OKC is not an attractive place when compared to a lot of cities, but the fans show up and yell like hell for the Thunder.

I'm pretty sure the people that stole the Thunder, the actual people, aren't burning Durant jerseys. And the people that are burning Durant jerseys, if that is in fact happening and not some weird, isolated incident, don't have the pull or wherewithal to steal anything other than a twelve pack of Natty Lite out of Granny's fridge.Comment

I'm sorry that happened to you guys. I'm pretty sure the people that stole the Thunder, the actual people, aren't burning Durant jerseys. And the people that are burning Durant jerseys, if that is in fact happening and not some weird, isolated incident, don't have the pull or wherewithal to steal anything other than a twelve pack of Natty Lite out of Granny's fridge.
They deserve it.

I like that sentiment. Because the Cavs spotted this team (that won the most games in a regular NBA season) with three wins, then beat them THREE IN A ROW (twice on their own court). There's not a snowball's chance in hell of the Warriors repeating that regular season win/loss ratio. The blueprint is out on how to beat their three point game. If they can even make it back, I look forward to seeing another championship rematch.
Now get ready for some pain...and I'm not even talking about the Warriors...in the East...the Celtics, Heat, Knicks, Bulls...are all coming for all of yous...they all smell blood...

I really thought OKC had a shot next season with a couple of tweaks and one more run at it. The Warriors are stacked now, and they did it by gutting their competition. Now who has the best chance of keeping them out of the finals next year - Spurs?Comment

As long as we don't lose Russ (who was first team All-NBA compared to Durant's second team All-NBA this year) we are still going to compete. The Warriors made all the right moves on paper and timing was in their favor and not in the Thunder's. It's a long season and everyone who stops to think knows that the stuff you can't control is what will get you. We lost Durant for 2/3's of the previous (2014-2015) season to injuries. That stuff happens. History, sports or otherwise, is almost completely made of "now what no one accounted for was...." stories alongside the inverse take of "Everyone thought it was all over when....but this happened".Comment

Westbrook is a stud...Oladipo is a great addition, he should take the starting guard spot...Westbrook should move to shooting guard. Adams has come to his own. Aside from the obvious departure in Durant...Thunder should've stuck with Ibaka...that was a big loss for the Thunder. But your team should still be solid.sigpicComment

Just like you Cav fans were crying and whining last year, when the Warriors beat your boys...that Irving and Love got hurt...now it's our turn. Curry playing hurt, Green getting suspended for that key game 5...and Bogut out...yet you just barely won...
Now get ready for some pain...and I'm not even talking about the Warriors...in the East...the Celtics, Heat, Knicks, Bulls...are all coming for all of yous...they all smell blood...
The Durant move to Golden State is NO different than LeBron leaving Cleveland for Miami. The guy wants a championship and he believes the Warriors give him a good chance. I can respect that. But we should ALL know that just collecting big stars on one team does not result in instant titles. Look at the Heat as a great example. They had all the stars when LeBron showed up and the media praised them as a "super team", just like the chants are starting with Durant and the Warriors. That first year they lost to Dallas and many questioned what was wrong. Of course the next two years following that collapse saw the Heat pull down back to back championships. But allot of that had to do with LeBron taking on a leadership role and everyone buying in.
There is NOTHING automatic about Durant coming to the Warriors outside of enormous pressure from fans and the unforgiving sports medias' expectations to be everything short of perfect. You can have that. Who would want that kind of expectation coupled with images from these finals which they will have to answer to every time something looks "wrong". The hangover question will abound as soon as they lose a few. This is American sports Hector. The media builds them up to tear them down. LeBron knows it well. Let's see if Curry and company weather the barrage of speculations, expectations, and criticisms, fair or not, that will hang over them all next year and for many more to follow. I bet they will have less condescending remarks to offer those who have walked in those shoes. But more importantly who becomes the leader on this team of stars? Jordan was the leader of the Bulls. Bryant for the Lakers. LeBron for the Heat and Cavs. There are plenty of questions for the Warriors next season. Let's see what they get figured out.Comment
