Sad to see the USA out of the worldcup. The last 15 minutes of the game showed a bit of what the boys could do. Tim Howard should be recognized as the best goalie of the tournament. I've been watching the soccer worldcups since Spain 1982, and to this day I don't remember seeing a goalkeeper saving so many shots in a single game. Amazing!

On a happier note, Argentina got into the quarters today. It was great to see them winning again. Di Maria's goal reminded me a bit of what Maradona did with Caniggia when sending home Brazil in 1990. It took just one magic touch by Messi, and the job was done. It is going to be a bit more complicated against the red devils, but match after match, Messi is showing some sparks of his unstoppable genius.

That's not how soccer works.

Belgium stopped attacking because of their late lead...that gave the opportunity for the USA to be dangerous at the end...but make no mistake about it...had the game still been tied 0-0...it would be Belgium dominating the offensive onslaught at the end (and USA holding on for the penalty kicks stage)...they are just an all around more talented team.

Thanks. I was using hyperbole to make a point. If the US had played with that intensity for the first 90 minutes, instead of the last 15, it could have been a very different game. They played a lackluster game until it was too late, and the only reason it wasn't 10-0 was Tim Howard.

Scheiße! well we played damn well, Howard is an amazing goalie and the USA team has nothing to be ashamed of. they played better than a lot of these other teams, just did not have the score today. 4 more years baby!

They will be a lot better four years from now...they have tons of talented youngsters...and the Klinsmann influence will be even stronger then.

I'd say Tim Howard's performance was the best one from a keeper this World Cup...yes...even better than Guillermo Ochoa.
