In high school we went to a drive-in marathon of Song Remains the Same, Stop Making Sense and Pink Floyd the Wall in El Paso, Texas.

    Driving home was....challenging.

I think it was Beverly Hills Cop... My brother used to work there, so I got in free... I even got to go in the projector room once or twice. It was a very cool experience, I saw a bunch of movies from 82-85 or so until he went to college, it closed soon after. They had good greasy food at ours; pizza, barbecue, burgers and fries and of course Pop Corn. My bro would bring home garbage bags full of pop-corn, and any left over food from the night. Funny enough one of our good buddies lived just down the road from the Drive in and could watch from his back yard. He even rigged up a speaker and spliced into one of the speaker poles... He saw everything! Good times... indeed!

Great Thread HG, you start some good ones!

Not sure which movie, but we used to walk into the Roosevelt Drive-In in Langhorne, PA in the early 80's. Every now and then we'd get chased out, but it was a great way to see r-rated movies our parents had barred us from seeing.

I do remember seeing Jaws back in the day. My mother took us in the staion wagon, all decked out in our PJ's. Not a great choice the day before we were supposed to go the beach. What I really remember was the second feature- Death Wish! My mom had no idea what the movie was and was, to say the least, a bit disturbed. For those of you who don't know, the movie opens with a violent rape scene of Charles Bronson's wife and daughter. I can clearly recall gravel flying all over, our faces pressed to the back window, as my mother was trying to peel out of the drive-in before our little minds were further warped. Too late, ma.

We've got a drive in about 15 minutes from the house, so last summer we went and saw the double feature of Ratatouille & Surf's Up. We'll probably go a couple of times this summer.

Fantastic Four, my daughter was just a baby then and easier to manage. We'll probably try again this summer.

There's a drive-in about 20 minutes away from me in the next town. Last movie I saw there was Pirates of the Carribean 2.

Oddly enough, I never went there much as a teenager.

    Aliens

    I remember that night well

Started raining through the movie, so the drive-in gave us all raincheck coins to use in the future.

The next day the drive-in shut down

    Today it's self storage units

Star Trek II back in 82. Both the drive-in's in my hometown shut down fairly soon after that.

I can't recall for certain if it was the very last drive-in movie I saw but I think it was "The Dead Pool" back in the late '80s. I miss the drive-in, that was a big thing for me as a kid! I saw Star Wars and Close Encounters at the drive-in more times than I can recall.

    What about you?
I grew up a few blocks from there...my dad used to take us there all the time, great movie experiences. I saw first run Planet of the Apes way back in the late 60s, to Star Wars, etc.

Great memories watching movies with my late father, mom, and my little sister, great memories indeed.

Now of course there's a shopping center with a humongous 25-screen movie plex in Union City...it's nice and modern, but certainly lacks the fond memories and charm of the good ol' days of the drive in theater.
